Check how much your memory your page file (virtual memory) is set. I experienced crashes and unable to load Immense maps and crashes on Gigantic till I did the following: Reinstalled the the 'redistributable' which stardock support told me to fix, here is thier email to me... The crashing looks to be related to the Visual C++ Runtime library. Please navigate to the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\commo

Ayork, I apologize. I just cant stand the posts that say, 'This isn't a beta and should never have been released. Its all opinion and there is a 1500+ page on Steam to review on this very topic. Bottom line. For me the Battle viewer is fine for its first release. I brings our game up to 'Gamma'...lol..(Ceta?)..in any event we are that much closer as promised to Gold release. Immense will feel much better with more rac
Personally I think Fighters should have Guns on them rather than lasers. That would force them to close the distance to target and be actually more realistic at least for my thoughts one that a single man load-out would be.
I agree, that beams are easy mode. Beams damage should be half or a third of what they are now to even out the advantage it has over guns.
LOL, Ayork, You are pretty funny. Its your opinion and truthfully you are very wrong and the consensus here on the forums proves it. In which case you purchased a game in Beta State and got it cheaper than the release at gold. Just shelve the game and pull it out when it goes gold. Problem solved.
So, I know we can create our own but NONE of the modules give you a 'fleetwide' bonus. I know transports are 'non combat' but what about a cargo hold loaded with ECM+Jamming+Targeting assst gear that 'helps' the other ships survive or become more effective? Has anyone tried this and used it in combat? I would love a viable option that I can build that is not beam based...
Lame...again this means that 'beam only' ships will always be the weapon of choice, even if your enemy has 200+ shields, you can always get the Elerium Beam augment that negates the enemy shields, again over powered. Beams need to do .6 of the damage that Mass Drivers do. Maybe even less.
So the fighters on Carriers always use the 'latest' tech you have. Ok suppose I have the highest end tech for Mass Drivers, uh, black hole gun or whatever but i have only the 'starter' beam weapon. On my super HUGE death carrier of doom, what weapons will my Fighters be using? Anyone test this?
Seems like Carriers and Beams are the Flavor of the Beta today. Best range and really over powered. I am going to start a new game to use Kinetics but would need to gaurd against Beams, so.... Ill need LOTS of shields. Fast ships, to get into range faster? Add 2 or 4 thrusters? Put in Jammers (damn things are too big at 16 tons/space units). Seems like Kinetics are not nearly as viable early game. If the cost and prod
The Kinetic weapons fire nearly twice if not 3x as much as the beam weapons. However they are the 'shortest' range. If you can survive long enough once you get into range kinetics EAT UP anything they touch. Tips: Put 2, 3 or 4 thrusters on your ships. This causes your ships to move MUCH faster in the arena getting you to their targets faster. Load up on Shields first then Point Defense. If room allows it, put a jammer on your ship.
Those are your 'misses'. I found after reviewing my battles, my misses went WIDE and i was like..what the hell? Also if the enemy has a Jammer you will miss 'a lot'..
Yea I lost literally the entire past weekend from 4am Sat to 1am Sunday with just a break for food. I even gave up my raid in Star Wars....Sigh what day is it?
It Saves the Hull designs created without any components such as engines or weapons. So the actual 'creation features' are saved to be used at any time since it does not have anything in it.
I am also getting the same issues with Benevolent ideology 'gift' planets and points from the Center not accumulating. I guess this means the Universe wants us all to be Draconian Slavemasters...ok..Ill fire up the Death Furnaces..
I agree Ryat. Or the attack value of these ships needs to be devalued somehow. Instead make it 10 ants cumulatively being as effective as adding 35 space points of weapons?
The fact that the AI was set to 'gifted' gives your answer. They started with most of the first age in tech. That is the advantage, not a better AI. As we approach release the AI will be MUCH better at thinking and you will want to scale back the difficulty because it will be using all those starting techs it gets for free at you.
So after re installing the visual studio I was still not able to create Immense maps. Frustrated I kept looking at the windows pop up and remembered what someone here said. They manually raised the virtual memory limit. Ah that old trick from Windows 98! So I went into my performance settings an raised it from 2 gigs to 6. Bam, game started and off we go! I played All of Friday night. All day Saturday ( I mean all damn day) and Saturday night. I a
So I increased the virtual ram to 6 gigs and that did the trick. I am trying to start the game and I am getting this message... C:\Steam Install\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III/Data/Game\FXBeamWeapons.xml(1,1): error: invalid byte 't' at position 2 of a 2-byte sequence um, reinstall?
Ok I am still unable to create and start a game on an immense map.
Thanks for the reply. I know we are in a placeholder AI, I was just 'blathering some observations'. I am eager to get home and down load the visual studio updater.
Another thing I thought was a bit on the exploitative side was when I met another Civ I would immediately purchase his Survey ships. In most cases they only had one and had not researched Sensors yet. This allow me to deny (them) the goodies laying about he Galaxy while at the same time increasing my exploration and opening of the map. As much as I hate to say it, I think the AI should place MUCH higher value on its Survey ships and NOT SELL it at all if it only has ONE. <
Avatar you are running 338.88 Drivers? I updated today to 347.
I asked this during the stream but the stream via Twitch was really borked. Did they get around to answering if this is working as intended or they are going to fix it?
I read that book Gilmoy. Good job on reference there. I remember that scene.
Yea I see the modules for both ships and star bases. They do not seem to 'add' a dmg or defense' value after you add them. We could use more documentation/clarification on how they work and what they bring to the table.
