Exactly the same happened in my last game. The evil empires started getting a little too big for their collective boots so I built up the Arceans with a few quality techs and some finance. Between us we took out everyone else in the game, both of us were neutral so I thought it a fairly safe path to take. During this period I had to switch all my trading to them, but I was OK with that. Next thing one of my supposed ambassadors has accidently shot the leading Arcean trade deligate in a random ev

Download without SDC 10 times faster ! in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

It took me 3 attempts of 4 to 5 hours each to get the 80 meg game download using SDC. Another 20 hours was forcast by SDC's download manager for the Multi-media files, it got to about 15 hours before it put up an error message. All downloads were around the 4 to 5 kb per sec mark. So taking the bull by the horns I decided to try and download the full 460 odd meg single exe file, obviously this didn't involve using SDC. The whole thing came down in less than 3 hours at an average of 50 kb per sec

10 hours gone, 10 to go. in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

Well I've been downloading the multimedia files since 8 this morning (GMT) Just got home from work and it's nearly half way. The main reason for this post is to say I'm really pleased the game was split up like this. It plays fine while SDC grabs the Multimedia files. I'm looking forward to the extra atmoshere these files must produce but even without them it's one hell of a great game. Auditech. ~SDC~

I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone at Stardock, Drengin and everyone on this board. My first download went down the pan, after that I learnt to archive when downloading, not to install while downloading. (A resume facility on the archive option would be nice) The second attempt showed up the same error as the first, namely a file deletion error. File deleted in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

Well I left my PC on all day downloading GC, even though I have dsl it only downloads at modem speeds. Probably due to the distances involved, I'm from the UK. However I get home to find it has downloaded but won't install, it just says file deleted. So I've started again, only another 4 hours to go. Anyway if anyone has had a similar problem and has cured it can you let me know please, thanks. Auditech ~SDC~

Incorrect file size in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

Well I got up early this morning (location England) to download GC. However I have a problem, everytime I try to download it I get an error saying "Incorrect file size" I've tried d/l the other games , same error. Anyone any idea how to cure this, I'm really keen to play. ATB Kev ~SDC~
