Well played TB is one of the hardest DG to move out of lane from game start to end, but I see soo many wrong (imo) views about how it should be played. Admitiedly, I play almost exclusively Fire, but: *) TB is anything but glass cannon. As I have posted a number of times, TB almost doesn't need any other item but HP/Armor ones and doesn't sacrifice anything by stacking HP and Armor. Consider that a full fire/ice build still leaves 5 points to put into enhanced attrib

I think he means Fire Mark (or whatever it is called), not Fire Aura. Fire Mark (+50% mana regen) and Ice Mark (+~70 damage) are the buffs that you get when you switch to the appropriate form and they last for 15s. Fire Aura (+5-15% speed, +damage) is the passive ability from the Fire skill tree and it is lost when you switch to Ice.
It is nto the mechanic, it is a balancing problem. Have you ever played vs a 11k ub?? I bet you never did it with a tb.
This is so wrong...TB (Fire) is actually the one demigod that benefits the most and sacrifices none from HP stacking simply because his DPS is pretty much completely unaffected by armor and he pretty much doesn't need to use any items besides HP/Armor to be fully effective. Basically: Most of TB dps comes from abilities = doesn't need dp
There are no pantheon matches in the list because there is no pantheon running at this moment. When there was one, the matches were listed correctly, as were people waiting in the que and people in pantheon games that have not yet started.
In other words: back up your arguments with reasonable logic. There is absolutely no reason to think they would be fudging numbers, let alone fudging numbers in such a way that doesn't even make them look good. Let's not for
Thanks for the information Istari - the thing I was most interested is that you only count people logged in to the server via Demigod and have a 30s heartbeat. It's a bit weird that people on average spend 3+ hours lurking for every game played (30 minutes), but I guess we cant discuss people's habits... EDIT: Hmm, just checked steam stats... 155,527 In-Game | <span id="iAccountsOnline"
When someone logs in, they are assigned to one of the 8 servers. The old stat page had only the server from the beta. The new stat page combines them. It's the same data.
Istari, I for am not saying I don't beleive the data. I'm just asking for explanation about the discrepancy of players in game and players online. The stats regularly show 85% of the people online not playing. You have to admit it's a bit weird, so maybe worth looking into.
I know about the impulse overlay... but it hasn't been working for me forever... EXCESS FLOOD error. Besides, if people were in the chat, they'd show in the irc channel too. Or maybe there is a secret society of 2500+ people that use stardocks irc server via impulse overlay inside Demigod and chat in their own channel... yeah, that's it. :D
The number is the number of people online with Demigod in one form or other. ... It's the number of people who have Demigod opened and have logged in. It has nothing to do with Impulse itself. The previous page only displayed the # of people logged into a single beta server. The new one displays the # of users on all of the servers. If you don't believe it, then don't. Not to be rude but we don't really care.
Then simply put
23K out of 150K is 15%... Anyway, having 2700-2800 lurkers with 3200 people online means 85% of online players are not really playing which is pretty much impossible. Those 2700-2800 people are not in lobby waiting for a game. They might be playing single player but then that is a wrong way to look at online players. Online player can only be someone who has logged in to the server from ingame and hasn't logged off or timed out.
And people still complain how we want too much in wanting these bugs fixed, and how it requires days of meeting in top management to decide how to fix it.... sigh It just like noone cares. For many of the bugs there have already been solutions provided by the community months ago that never made it into patches. Thx for the tip Sorian...
My priority order would be: Fix general and gameplay bugs (multiple auto-attack bugs, valor flag, item activation cancels movement, unresponsive ui) Continue working on improving the matchmaking, connections and stat recording (there is still lots of improvement needed, especially in pantheon) Chat/Friends PM working correctly Replays Modding General improvements (like being able to cast on self, hp bars for teamm
ZehDon and SyDaemon - however the unfortunate truth is that many of this bugs have fairly simple solutions. It's not that I don't understand priorities - It is my opinion that bugs that affect gameplay balance in a mp focused game should be put on highest priority. And I think we need to let the devs know that these bugs are affecting gameplay. Letting GPG slide with not fixing bugs like these for 4+ months will not help either them or Demigod.
In which way was I exactly flaming? It wasn't like I called you names or anything and most of what I said was correct. Ok I was wrong thinking the game lobby is not very likely to use Lua scripts in some form, but still it wasn't you that provided that info (which was actually something useful regarding the subject). I only asked that you check the facts before making assumptions... So if you're really serious about helping how about really tracking down where table.random
Actually I just found this thread: [Bug] Fire mode Torch Bearer can't hit a target on the run. And it even includes the needed solution - a small change in the Lua and adding the missing animation. It proposes using a different or no animation until the missing fire animation is added. It was posted 3 months ago</stro
Have you been able to reproduce it since 1.1 was released?
Yes.
Ah, search didn't work few days ago so I didn't bother to check. [BUG] Capturing&losing enemy valor flag By Spell Posted February 22, 2009 07:46:43 If you capture enemy valor flag, your reinforceme
And take that Misfortune! Random WAS written in lua, ha!
How about checking how (and where) table.random is implemented :D
/bow to you for bothering to check :)
First. Random option may have been written in Lua. Second. I've never sayd that. Stop ragin please. Edit: Don't talk about things you don't know.
You based a whole slew of conclusions based on one assumption that you didn't even bother to check. You can gain full access to the lua scripts from Demigod if you wish so. Doubt you will find anything there related to game creation and start. Second, can't blaim me for not following your po
Hybrid Tutorial and discussion Biggest problem with hybrid build is it really takes a lot of time to take off. It can be very strong late game, but it's very likely you are never gonna get there. It also needs a lot more mana than pure fire build. You basically need to play as Ice TB for most of the early game due to mana constrains and fireball dilluting the build too much early on. Additionally, while Ice TB does have a functional auto
No, Battle net is a matching AND game hosting service. Closed Diablo, Ladder SC and War3 games are all hosted on the Bnet servers. When you create a custom war3 game (like DoTA) you take the role of being the server. All players connect to you and they don't connect to eachother (which would be p2p). Besides the only reason for playing DoTA on a PvPGN server is to be able to play with a pirated game. There is absolutely no other reason not to use the battle.net
Sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. First of all, Demigod is NOT WRITTEN in Lua. It USES Lua for some of the game functionality (mostly scripting events, ai and similar). The scriping of the game in Lua still mostly relies on libraries provided by the core game which are not written in Lua. Second, Randomizing with the same seed produces same sequence of random numbers, not the same random number. Third, Random option makes games impossibl
If you can kill Oak with TB by the time multiple artifacts are available - that Oak sucks big time. Especially with Ice TB. Penitence can interrupt Frost Nova, Shield purges all debuffs and Surge of Faith heals them for hundreds of HP. I guess you just haven't played against a decent Oak that interrupts many of your casts and uses shield to block others. TB will never be able to stand against Oak in a high level game...
Valor flag is bugged . Basically when valor flag is taken it resets the opponents troops to their base hp, regardless of their possesion of another valor flag. So when you take your opponents flag for the first time, and they retake it back - you lose the bonus of your own valor flag. Now I find myself telling my teammates not to capture it just as I was asking them not to get priests. It is not as game breaking as priests were, because it happ
It's much better than prevously - so far 4/4 successfull starts in pantheon (though you will still run into jerks dropping after first death). But, as someone commented, pre-made teams are still farming favor in custom games so this might change soon if no policy is introduced against team-joins in current Pantheon and dropping on game creation.
