Ice TB has great escape potential, between her rain of ice slow, her ice aura, and a decent stun. Someone has to stack a LOT of speed to run down an ice TB. Req and QOT are the worst, quite simply, because of their lack of interrupts. There are other issues, of course, but that is the big one.

Priests is really more of a question of what DG's you are facing. Sedna, Erebus, Oak, etc have a lot harder time feeding off of priests then a TB, Tower rook, ooze ub, etc.
A spit UB or a Oak with spirits will have a tower down in 2-3 waves of creeps at levels 1-4. I think the lowest I actually did it was at the 1:42 mark.
Anyone left completely alone in a lane will have the first tower down in under 2:30. I know I've done it in under two minutes from time to time. Of course, this never happens in games where it would matter.
Heavens Wrath is only useful if your team wasn't going to get that XP anyways. Otherwise all you are doing is stealing XP from your teammates. (And the 250 damage from Heavens Wrath just doesn't scale well enough)
He's conceding that cosmoe would be the better QOT player. This is a lot like saying he's the best runner in the special olympics. The best student on the short bus. The smartest business major. The best writer in remedial english. It doesn't matter who the best QoT is, when any QoT will lose in a serious game.
Whats the challenge? Cosmoe takes QoT and ryan takes, oh, anything else? Or Cosmoe takes two buddies and plays his QoT against Ryan and two buddies?
I never take BotF with Rook, always the staff of renewal. Countdown timers can't be itemized away :P
I haven't spent much time on 4v4's, and never bother with 5v5. Too many people drop. If there is a 10% chance a given player will drop, a 3v3 will finish with the full number of players 54% of the time, vs only 34% for a 5v5. Over half the time sounds a lot better then barely a third.
Yes, but most competetive games are 3v3. In a non competetive game, good players can do ANYTHING and win. Flag locking ina 5v5 is ENTIRELY different then the default 3v3, which is what people assume when you are talking upper level strats. When you have 4 nuetral flags and 10 DG, it's a lot different from 6 DG and 3 nuetral flags + 2 gold mines that aren't tower protected.
That is like speed stacking a rook. It does no good - anyone else with speed will still be faster. A TB is, and always will be, squishy. Sure, health stack as much as possible, but it's better instead to get speed and use your frost aura/rain of ice/ice nova to bail then to just add more health. If that UB also gets BotF, your BotF will do you no good at all. If he gets swift Anklet, your swift anklet will still get you out.
Note the use of the words "Almost all the time". There are exceptions, of course - just like sometimes it makes sense to use Heavens Wrath. It doesn't change that Heavens wrath is a mistake, almost all of the time.
Most of the time you are right Ryan, but I'm actually working on a strat that uses a TB WITH heavens wrath :P HEavens Wrath is a VERY situtational item that can be properly used under very specific circumstances, which never occur in a PUG game. Ice TB is actually playable, and can be useful. That being said, I don't think I've ever lost with my premade against a team with a TB or a reg. (Unless we lost because someone dropped)
Tele amulet is a crutch for poor play. Early on rook should never have to run, his towers make him an utter and total beast. Later on, people mostly tele to the rook, not the other way around. Yes, you will buy and use tele scrolls a lot in a good team, but not enough to make up for the loss of Staff of Renewal or BoTF. If you find yourself using the tele amulet and teling a lot, just BUY MORE SCROLLS.
This is pretty much how any serious rook plays. The only difference I have is that I'll get Trebuchet early some games because it is really amazing against towers, and it actually does decent DPS against DG's - and sometimes tags me free kills. I almost always will take Staff of Renewal - more towers a lot faster, and more boulder rolls when I need them.
Yes. The point, however, is that they don't get that way until after a certain period of time. It's a mistake to lock early, almost all of the time.
Posting a game where you did that with a premade and won, against a PUG with a QoT and Reg? Thats your arguement? You played a premade against a pug, first off. Second off, a pug with a Qot and a Reg - the two weakest DG in any kind of competetive game. Anecdotal evidence is never good, but at least get try to get better anecdotal evidence. Note that they are the weakest DG in part due to the complete and utter lack of interrupts or stuns. Try gettign that
I always check the stats of every player. I never click through to the gamelist. The exceptions are so few as to not be worth the extra 3 seconds per ~10 people you need to check to start a 3v3. You want people to stop kicking you, play 15 games, and since you are appaerntly so uber you should easily get to 12-3. At which point, people would stop kicking you. It's NOT OUR PROBLEM - IT'S YOURS.
Early on I only buy a lock when I have a bit of extra cash after I shop - and then it's a tossup whether or not it's a lock or a port. At which point, if I do have a lock, I would use it when solo at the fort flag and 2 opponents showed up. Ideally, I do that, kill the next creep wave, and then go shop, and return when the flag lock is about to drop. Either it's a 1v1 or less and I saved that flag (since I am now more itemized then my opponent and at full health/mana) - or t
Ironically, I've noticed that many people flag lock far too early and far too often. This under itemizes them for a temporary warscore lead, which my team then completely negates once we start flag locking/tele ganking 5 minutes later.
The sedna always buys currency :P
I'm sorry, but any DG can save a tower in a 2v1 the first few levels. No one at that stage can sit in against a DG and the tower damage - not even with a 2v1 advantage. They fire on you, you run back into the protection of the other towers. They fire at the tower, you whack them at the same time. It's just not doable unless the defender is stupid.
I would say never take that portal flag before catas. You want that XP that it is producing, and the gold.
I also play with tshughes and SocialistRyan and several other people. FutileEmotion, in fact, is a very good friend of mine going back many many years, and we bought the game to play together. And no, we don't tag it premade - because then we'd never, ever, ever play. We also play premades when we can, and I'm perfectly willing to go play against premades by myself when my mates aren't on. Of course, being as this is my senior year of college and I have the courseload
I'd just like to point out that in his last 25 games, he's played 2 "noobs only" games and 3 "no noobs" games. So either way he's a jackass.
