If you're really talking about GC4, then (a) only core worlds can build shipyards, and (b) you build them as a planetary project (small button in the lower left corner of the planet window) not with constructors. The structures are built by dragging an available improvement from the left part of the window to an available tile on the planet.

Me too. It was there in the early alpha test versions and then got taken out for some reason. Now when I want to figure out which planet to specialize something on I have to cycle through all my core worlds one by one.

I'm talking about wonders like the Eyes of the Universe, Elon's Lift, and the Beacon of Babylon. Although the Eyes might be bugged in .77b. And no, even with all of those and the missions I've never filled one whole tree. I could have filled one and maybe most of another one, but so far I've tended to spread the points out more than focus on one tree.
Still not able to upgrade anything but survey ships. I thought this was going to be fixed. Is this a permanent change now?
I used to take my survey ships and make fleets with the commander ships. If the commander ships are unable to upgrade, it makes some of the available upgrades useless. For example, the one that increases the moves of the ship. If only the survey ship can take this upgrade, but you need other command

While I agree with you to some extent, I can't disagree more that it's a problem that would cause you to rage quit and demand a refund. There are relatively easy ways to deal with approval penalties, for example. Some of the really negative policies are there for use only in drastic situations.
Quesiton is: Is there a difference between the two ? Do I need to install the other version too ? Been playing the test edition since I started.
The Test version is updated more frequently, the other version is more stable. You only need one. Those of us actively trying to identify bugs are using the test version.

There's a bunch of stuff there that I'm going to have to wait until I play with it before I say anything, but I like what you're doing with the star base upgrades - for me they've been well neigh impossible to get in the alpha/beta so far because of the exotic resources required. And the change to Ripe for Conquest is welcome, it never made sense that someone so far away would say that.
Now the game crashes to desktop when I click on upgrade button, but it doesn't do it all the time. Can't get it to repeat even after recolonizing offending planet.
That happened to me when I tried it on a save from a previous version. I forget if the game was .75 and I loaded it under .76, or .76 and I loaded it under .77. Anyway, now that I've started a new game with .77 I haven't had a crash (yet) but the button stil

AdamMG has good suggestions regarding crime. In .77 there's a new planetary improvement named something like Law Office that, like the Survelliance Center, reduces crime by 10%. Also the Ministry of Justice tech lets you recruit a Minister who reduces crime across all your core worlds and colonies.
Are you and Publius saying you cannot left click a tile and improve it?
No. We're talking about the one per colony (not core world) "Colony Upgrade" you used to be able to do via the main galaxy view. Select the colony and then try to click on this button. It used to bring up a menu of upgrades that could be built on a colony. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/3/68/368410/886265f2-e42f-4537-ba60-34
Except I do not get Tree type diagrams this way, that people are used to working with from most of the other games with researching technologies.
Exactly. I think Brad showed a screen shot of a tech tree in one of his recent forum posts, so I'm still hopeful that they will come back.
The colors of the tech cards would really help a lot, or at least a noticeable icon that shows its path.
The current colonization techs are brown, blue, and green, with one red and two yellow (at the very end, look like capstone techs). Engineering techs are mostly browns, with a few blue and red and one green. An icon is a good idea.
this is why the "focus research" button, in the upper right corner of the tech screen, exists.
Which a lot of new players won't notice. Also, in order to intelligently use it you have to know which branch of the tech tree the tech(s) you want are in. To find that out you have to go to the Tech Library, use the focus buttons there to show only the techs within one of the four branches, and then search to see if your
