Hoo boy, you release 0.77[b].008, I just finish installing it, and now 0.77[b].009 is available. You guys are working late on a Friday! Actuall, it's still Friday where I am, but it's Saturday where you are ...

The Ominorians were a random event that didn't happen until you had managed to research Excalibur level ships. They came into the galaxy from a random direction in extremely powerful ships, blasting their way across the map, attacking all ships and planets indiscriminately. There you were, about to finish off the Drengin, and all of a sudden your whole fleet is wiped out. Enough to ruin your day. <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddl

Well there's a different spin you can put on the space monster mechanic, rebrand them as ancient Precursor weapon systems roaming the galaxy long after their creators are no more. Automated drones acting out some long forgotten command to defend the Precursor empire and so on. I like this idea. Never

Yes, I think the change to drop planet qualities 1-4 was a quick work around to an AI problem that was causing the AI to colonize them. There are a lot more class 0 planets now. The problem with not being able to launch your flagship from orbit is a new one on me. You might want to report it on the thread labelled "Beta 4: BUG REPORTS HERE".

IMO Beta4 is starting to get really playable. But I'm starting to wonder about the way upgrades work. If I'm in a large or huge game the colonization phase lasts long enough so that the starting planets have already built the basic improvements and, given appropriate research choices, are working on upgrades while new planets are still being colonized. The problem I see is that the upgraded improvements (the Extreme Stadium, for example)

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. If Stardock Central says that your GC2 is at 0.76[b].003 then you're running the same level as the rest of us who are reporting we're on Beta4a. Elimination of class 1 to 4 planets and one fix for Senate elections were, I believe, the only changes between Beta4 and 4a.

Does the cultural victory work? Yes, I've won two games so far by culture flipping the Korx. I reported a problem with culture flipped worlds not obeying the Governor, and Cari said she'd look into it.

ok, I finally was able to win a vote to convert to a democracy, but the vote smells of integer overflows, although I thought I'd seen that BoogieMac had said that was fixed in Beta4a. My attempt to post the image here didn't work, so I'll email the image to gc2bugs.

Above in post #61 and earlier, I reported a problem where Senate elections lose track of which party you are. I've now confirmed that this is related to loading a saved game. In my current game (Beta4a) I'm playing as Technologists. After changing government to Republic I went through several election cycles with no obvious anomolies. Then I saved the game and quit. Tonight I reloaded the game, and on the first Senate event, where I was trying to

The planet/ship quick build list shows different completion times than the completion times shown if you go to the planet window. For example, Primus II one the quick build list shows 26 weeks to complete the extreme stadium, while if I go to the planet window for Primus II it shows a completion time of 23 weeks.

i agree jmgarth and have suggested it before - i'm on a 10.6inch widescreen and the "starship console" takes up a fair bit of room - i'm wondering whether when you pull out to tactical, the console drops down, just leaving the tool bar - that way you have a much better view. it may also then be that you can constuct your own tact

Could be that also. It's certainly not staying put--when I saved, my current research had only a few weeks to go, and when I loaded, it had 40+ weeks to go I saved a game last night with only 6 weeks to go for researching Star Democracy. Upon loading tonight it shows as 26 weeks. Post edited: Interesting, after the first turn the t

Senate vote screen incorrectly displays which party you are part of. It claims I'm industrialist, when I'm quite sure that I'm technologist. The game also seems to recognize that I am technologist, since I still gain the bonuses granted by the techies when they won the election, even though the senate vote screen says that my par

I've won two games so far by culture flipping all the Korx worlds, so it is possible. I researched the government techs as quickly as possible, built starbases on the influence resources, built the embassy (only culture building I've found so far), and played on beginner level

Yeah, those are all the values we put in the xml file. But you're not supposed to lose them in the abilities tab. I'll have to look at that. Note that there's no way in a custom race to achieve such high abilities with only 10 points to distribute. I thought it was a design point for the game that a

If you want to know which planets are decent at-a-glance, just zoom out until it switches to the strategic view. Given that it's so easy to zoom out on the main map, and that that view shows you planet quality, resources, starbases, anomolies, etc, I'm starting to question the need for the mini-map.
