I've tried playing "Loose Clusters" and "Tight Clusters" on a large map and I can't see any difference between the two. Is that a feature that isn't implemented yet?

I don't think that Beta4b has any canned ships other than the Defender. I've gotten all the way up to large hulls, and way into the attack/defense techs, and not found any. I think I saw a post from Cari or Brad saying that they're working on a whole bunch of canned ships, maybe for the next beta drop.
Cheats were things like control-U to reveal the entire galaxy.
yes, GC1 disabled submission to the metaverse if you had used a cheat code.
Nice design!
They should be listed in order of value (cost), or there should be some indication of how much techs in the list are worth in RPs Now that is a good idea, PC.
That's correct, Citizen Comnenus, there are 2 separate problems that have already been reported. The disappearing image is because Beta4b started storing the saved ship images in a different directory, but the code that's looking for the image is looking in the old spot. Hopefully that can be fixed easily. The problem with not being able to remove modules on an upgrade is a carry over from Beta3 - I hope it will be fixed soon also.
I avoid any anomoly that looks like a wormhole. (are the little blue spheres always wormholes?)
So far I've not been able to get 1 colony be affected by any I've reported this already on the big beta4 bug thread.
If the AI thinks that you are more powerful than they are they will give you gifts to gain your favor. It shows up as a tech trade where they offer you a tech, or money, for nothing.
Rats. On reloading the saved game the tech tree looks normal again. Hope the problem can be figured out without it.
Upon starting a new game, the tech tree that came up on the first turn showed that I already knew a number of advanced technologies, including Interstellar Republic, Star Democracy, and Star Federation. I'm not sure yet whether it was just a display glitch or if the game really thinks I have those techs. I sent a jpg of the tech tree display that shows the problem to gc2bugs. Post edited: Something is seriously wrong. I just got the message that I'd completed researching Universal
Just won a Cultural victory. The endgame summary screen shows Society Score of 2717, but the Social details screen shows Society Score of 0. The technolgy, economic, and military scores on the detail screens all match what is displayed on the summary screen, it's only the society score that is different.
I've built economic starbases that I've maxed out with military and social production bonuses, but the details screen of planets within their zones of influence show "No Starbase Bonuses" under the Starbase Bonuses section of the window. The "Stats" section of the window, if I scroll down, shows production and morale bonuses of 150% and 80%, but I'm not sure whether those bonuses are due to improvements I've built on the planets or the starbases.</fon
I turned off follow AI ships because they flash by so fast I can't see them. Maybe I need to slow down my system
It's the one type of starbase that I hadn't gotten around to building yet. Same here. Now I've built several and the Iconians are kicking my * with culture. Have to build even more starbases
I traded Ultra Spices to the Iconians for an aliiance (having traded the Aliiance tech to them several turns earlier). The Foreign Policy "Relations" window shows that we are now allied, but the "Treaties" window does not show a blue line for an alliance. Also, the game should have ended as an alliance victory but is continuing.
The Iconians improved their influence enough to push mine to the edge of the map, and when the influence lines got next to the edge of the map the influence lines got all squiggly. Sent a jpg showing it to gc2bugs.
I haven't experienced any such crashes and haven't seen them reported in other threads. There have been problems when trying to load a file that was saved from a previous beta, but that doesn't sound like what you're seeing. I'd recommend that if you don't have SmartException installed, you do so, and to send your saved game to [email protected]. For information on SmartException see the "All beta testers read this" thread.<
While, thanks to this thread, I can now log into the Metaverse, it still refuses to accept my game submissions. Details posted in the big Beta4 bug thread.
By the way, for those wondering about allowed victory conditions in Beta4b, I won a cultural victory. I've previously won military and alliance.
Re: metaverse not accepting game submission - I've tried submitting the game again under a different character name, but it still rejects with the same symptoms.
Having managed to get logged into the metaverse, and completing a game, I got a popup asking if I wanted to post it to the metaverse. When I said yes, it told me that I needed to enter a password for the user name. The strange thing is that there was no user name filled in, and while I could enter a password I could not enter a user name. The server said it did not accept the user name/password, which doesn't surprise me since there was no user name
I agree, I'm missing that feature.
That's been reported in a couple of other threads, and now that it's been pinned down to a saved game problem BoogieMac said he thought it would be fixed quickly.
