Here is my report from today. It is a bit longer winded. I hope you?ll like it =p All AI on normal; Small Galaxy Off to aggressive colonization start and after all the planets were taken this is what the map looked like http://www3.sympatico.ca/seadk/start.jpg UP tried to pass a proposal to create to hold United Celebration to boost morale of all the empires http://www3.sympatico.ca/seadk/up.jpg . I was short on cash so I woted against it. Decided it's t

No worries... RC is not doing that anymore :)
You are running beta 5c?
1) Yes you can make alliances with any other empire as soon as you research it and as long as your relations with them is close. Oh.. yea the other empire has to have researched alliances too (or you just give it to them as a gift)
Uhmm.. I usualy play it all on normal and now started playing with 2 on bright AI setting. Now I am getting creamed by Altarians (bright ones ;) )
You can set them to all be good or something like that... It still doesn't guaranty you that they will like you =P
Uhmm... that link is broken... :p
"You can't deny the power of a Starbase that can take out an entire starsystem, yet still have the heart to be home to a waterpark and galactic shopping center." ROFL LOL LOL LOL
Ancient Warrior, I don't think you will need to be big computer buff to make changes to the game. I hear they will be releasing a utility to help you with that ;)
These are the kind of choices that you make during the game that decide if you are "good, neutral or eveil empire. The payoff is that being evil is instant gratification (morale boost in this case) but don't expect to be very liked in the galaxy (you'll have harder time dealing with others). Beeing good has long term benifits (only good techs later on) and diplomaticly you will have easier time getting what you want.
Yup ... the fix is not in the latest beta build. I had a problem few times with that build too, but since gamme it never happend again.
I love the "diplomacy" language in GC LOL ... I makes me laugh every time. Btw from what I hear the game will be modable so you can make your own responses if you like ;)
Combat is the way you described it and talking from what I know there are not going to be changes made to it any time soon. Your governors are your custom build queues (you have 3) so it is very easy to set up. Once you set your queues (governors) all you do is asign them to the planets and viola :) Tiny maps are truly tiny. They are only 4x4 sectors. A sector can have anywhere between 0-5 systems I'd say. As far as AI goes if you set it to genious it will kick your ass on any
If it is of any asurance they have been toning down the AI because it was to hard. And it does't cheat ;)
"Brad got me hooked on making terror stars with a bunch of cultural modules." LOL That never corssed my mind ... bombard the planets with burgers and cheap t-shirts hahaha
Trust me you won't be disaponted :)
Yes, original Galvic was released back in the OS/2 days, and that was the OS it ran on. If I were you I would just wait for the game to come out. I don't think you will have funn insialling OS/2 on your PC just to play Galciv :)
You know, I am not sure. Frogboy said that beta is no longer available for download. Than someone else said that they purchased Drengin.net and were able to downlaod it. :p
Had the same thing happend to me. I found out that the latest gamma updates are only for few select people. Now we'll just have to wait till release comes out.
I have to say that I like the cut scenes in RC (victory one left me a tad confused though =p). And the performace on gigantic galaxy is great even on my Athlon 850. No long waits in between the turns... Great job Frogboy... can't wait for final release.
This has been discussed before. The beta testers at the time voted to make this a great single player (great AI) instead to implement multiplayer. But don't give up hope.. who know, down the line it might be added in an expension or something. :)
No... it going to be free with the game on release day.
Yea, that sounds right. That was the last beta revision they had before it hit gamma. If you like what you see in that beta there is some nice things they added in gamma (appart from all the multimedia stuff).
:) Well one difference in GalCiv that there is no ship design. There are no specific weapons you can research to outfit your ships with. You can research better armours, shilds, repair and speed bonuses but they are applied on all the ships as soon as reasearch is done. You reasearch new military techs and as you do new types of ships apear in your build cue.
lol.. nice My Secret Shame LOL Uhmm.. I guess you can download it than... it's beta right?
