Granted, among the items incinerated by the angry lawsuit happy flamethrower wielding people is your school. School, the building, is now primarily carbon, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and water, and is out of operation indefinitely. I wish the cost of a college education reflected the quality of educational materials and instruction provided.

Would "frontier" be a better word than "front line", meaning unexplored gravity wells rather than known hostile gravity wells?
It worked in GalCiV2 because it's a good fit in a turn based game as expansive as GalCiv2. In SINS I think it would be a gimmick mechanic that would need a gimmick counter like another spy... and then you just turn SINS into Spy vs Spy.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Providing more options allows for more diverse varieties of gameplay.

Granted, now you have no legs due to some jerk using a real fragmentation grenade instead of a paintball grenade. I wish people weren't so paranoid and instead could appreciate jokes about weapons, explosions, Halo, etc, without reporting others as "potential terrorists" to their employers.

Instead of a cloaked ship, I think a Marine Boarding Craft would be preferable. It could have plenty of hitpoints to protect it during an assault, but also be visible and not completely invincible. The Marines could capture a ship and bring it back to a Military Research Station where the technologies employed in it would be gradually obtained - thus requiring the ship not to be part of a battle and allowing for the player who the ship was stolen from to be able to retake it prior to complete
Honestly, once front-line worlds become instant death to a scout passing through, I highly doubt that any reasonable AI would suffice. Personally, I'd just be happy if the AI had a little more prioritization. When a scout would rather revisit that dead-end volcanic behind your homeworld than move towards the unexplored gravity well right next to it, there's a problem. Similarly, when scouting the enemy there are usually 4 or 5 fro

Having just finished reading the book of this thread's title, it actually got fairly cool, to me, once the story moved away from the weirdness which is civilian life and into space exploration and combat. There's a ship type from it which isn't completely matched, although I'll have a feeling that I'll be told otherwise since everything has already been done that can be done and whatnot, but anyway: a class of cruiser which serves as a 100 terawatt laser cannon
The auto-explore behaviour is set to visit planets with the oldest intel first, so often what happens is that auto-exploring scouts will tend to go for planets far behind the front lines and end up having to go through heavy defenses. If those defenses can consistently kill those scouts, you'll basically be throwing scout after scout at the same place with the same results.
There ought to be some extra logic for t

Granted, but playing basketball with infants having fever causes parents to act suspicious of you. I wish that colonization of the planet Mars would start sometime soon within my lifetime.

Due to the context of the statement, not the content of the statement in absence of context. IDK, 50/50 probability of creepy statement then, guess I guessed incorrectly. You're banned since I guessed incorrectly, but you'd also be banned if I guessed correctly FYI.

You're probably aware of the various types of artillery throughout history, such as the ballista, scorpion, onager, trebuchet, just as varieties of catapults for starters. The ballista and scorpion are virtually the same basic design even, except the scorpion was smaller and more suited to a purely anti-infantry role whereas the ballista was more powerful and could be used to take out siege towers or send a single spear through a column of infantry. Onagers hurled clusters of rocks and was, b

I try to get a couple scouts outs while increasing funds from taxation (first option planetary upgrades), build a capital ship factory and save up for an Akkan Battlecruiser. Send the Akkan to kill off the hostile denizens of the gravity and then use the colonize ability to obtain that planet. Upgrade that planet and send the Akkan to the next world. When you can afford another capital ship, I would recommend either a Marza or a Kol and try to keep it where it can easily reach any planet unde
