Relationship is stored in prefs.ini, and actually applies to the slot .
Ah. That makes sense. There may have been a slot correlation that I missed. Thanks.

Oh, I agree with you on being suspicious about the later OS versions. To be fair I've used 8.1 Pro for development and it's different but not nearly as bad I'd feared - except for the sneaky "cloud enabled" default installation. My point was more that if you buy a used laptop, take whatever is already on it, even if Vista or XP.
In TotA (and also DA) the first date when you can contact the AI is 1st March (=8 turns). Being Super-Diplomat reduces that to 4 turns, as SD effectively halfs all these barriers.
Yep. March 1 is the first week he'll talk to me. I understand that, but I think you're missing the point. I set one (maybe a few) specific opponents to Friendly. Then I switched back to Random#. GC generated a random set of opponents, but they were also randomly set to Friendly. The one(s) I set might not show up, but when they did they might or might not be set to Friendly. IMO, given the existing interface, with Random# no opponent should show up with a pre-selected re

Well, I tried it in TotA, and it almost works. But I had to cheat my ass off to do it. First, all-Rare produces a galaxy with 25-35 unowned worlds ** , making the task of cycling until you get the sole 700% research tile nearly un-ending. Second, the AI won't talk to you for several weeks. I guess he has to wait for Univ.Tr. too? Third, when I finally got the sporeship in range, his orbit was occupied! Since I can't ta

I don't know that this is CU-related, but I am playing 2.20 so I'll ask here. I was playing with initial setups: selected a set of opponents, set one (maybe more) to 'Friendly'. Done with that, started a new game and selected Random/Random. About half the opponents I got were Friendly. Happened again, but different Friendlies. So I went back to the setup and manually set all opponents to 'Unknown'.&n
As for 2 separate personal folder - I think you'll have to do work with 2 separate backup-folders - which you copy into the used one, and backup these folder every time you change your version.... For word processing look for the cheapest piece of crap that you can find. There are few apps that require less processing power. Pay more attention to the keyboard and screen. (Personally I would never do any serious WP on a laptop keyboard, but you may feel differently.) x64 is completely pointless. 4GB RAM will be completely wasted. Look for used with: * W7 (why?) * MS Office of some vintage (or your preferred app) already instal

Two question, please. 1) How do I re-enable the Planets panel on the negotiation screen? 2) Is it possible to have two functioning versions on the same computer? e.g. 2.04 and 2.20. Separate installations are easy, but they both insist on using the same folder for dynamic files.

Orbital, I play like you on most races. Keep the population down until you are ready. This let's me go for other techs early (esp. Econ) and saves tiles until I can get some Terraforming done. Now on the older version of the game, the AIs would spend WAY too much effort increasing population, to the point that they would use +300% Research tiles for Farms and drive morale right into the ground. If you know this you can use it for easy

If you want to build Farms for more people (a good thing) then you will need to develop Morale support, either with Morale starbases or morale techs and improvements (or both). Really, Orbital, this is very basic stuff. How did you get this far without learning it? ToTA = TA = Twilight of the Arnor. [again] No you can't customize starting planets.

Well, it wouldn't be the first "shortcoming" that I've experienced with FF. E.g. it has some backward compatibility issues with its own database. Do you plan to post these guides as integrated documents with the pics embedded? E.g. Word format (A terrible format, but ubiquitous.) As it is I have to save the text, then download the individual pics and deduce where they go from the filenames. (If I had a choice between more guides and a d

I'm on the latest Firefox. The first two "cannot be displayed becuase it has an error' messages came from the forum, not from the browser. The flaky first picture here a ppears to have been corrupt downloads. I tried saving again, and the third time I got a usable pic. If your images are okay, the point the finger at the forum s/w . I wondered what the heck the SCC is good for. But I'm playing TotA v2.20 (i.e. the CU) and there is no planet trade screen. I don't like that. I'm going to have to figure out how to mod the mod and bring back the screen.

The first pic is all white. The first pic is weird. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't. I can't edit - or reliably view it - in MS Picture Manager. Consider replacing? The others are pretty dark, but I can make them out. BTW, don't the SBs reinforce each other? Almost obviates the need for ships as any attacker would go poof just on the SBs...
