Hey guys, I tried the WebAfrica trial account and it makes no difference to the ping. Still about the same in general. Looks like we simply have a 400ms average disadvantage no matter what :( Sometimes you get lucky and the pings are then in the 200's but finding a game where everyone has a low 300-200 ping is nearly impossible. I've also noticed that sometimes when I play against ppl with higher pings (400 or so) the game runs relatively well whilst othertimes it runs quite badly...<
KRayner
That sucks :(
Hey guys, Anyone else here play a game that they won and not have the game list in their Games List on the website? I played a 1v1 against someone (actually went onto the site to see what his stats were) on Exile, he played as Regulus and had made certain changes to the standard settings (which was quite a surprise). The changes I can remember were: Starting at Level 10 and 25k Gold to begin with. Do modified games not count at all or is this simply an error? Oh
Hey ErosWelker, when you hit the TAB key and the stats (with your name, flags taken etc.) pop-up, the Sim speed is second from the end if memory serves (next to and before the Ping stats). As for your PC, I have a similar setup (similar CPU, GFX etc.) and I run the game with everything on it's highest settings @ 1920x1200, 8XQ AA and the game runs a constant 50-60 fps with a sim speed between 8-10.
Hey guys, Is it just me or would some sort of progress bar be a great addition to the replays. Like when watching a video using Media Player, LC etc., you can rewind or fast forward or simply select a section of the 'timeline' if you want to get to a particular bit without having to watch the whole thing because certain moments are very insightful yet difficult to find (as you may have forgotten whereabouts a certain highlight took place). Anyone else think
Mmm, I guess it's just the fact that we are in SA and we need to learn to put up with it :( I got a trial 10Gb WebAfrica account which I would like to try as they bandwidth is apparently supplied by Seacom. Going to give that a go and let you guys know...
Hey guys, tried out the FNBconnect service and @ R69 per Gb it's priced well and 'topping up' is convenient and easy however the main reason I tried this service out was to try and improve Demigod ping times (as it is a unshaped account vs. my shaped IS acc). I conclude that the unshaped account makes no difference in ping times at all which is a big dissapointment. Anyone else here in SA have better luck then I do with ping results? I think it may also have to do with the fact that I
No worries, just let me know when you would like to play a game.
Thanks for this Frogboy, definately helps us less experienced players find more balanced games. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.
Hey guys, played a few good games last night. Let me know if anyone would be interested in playing sometime soon.
Anyone have time this evening for a game? I'm looking at playing from around 8-9pm. Lemme know :-) Will have Ready 2 Play open as well...
Hey guys, went to a small LAN yesterday (there were only 6 of us) and we played the latest patched version of Demigod. Of the 6 of us, half owned the game so we used a net connection to activate the other 3 copies for LAN play (Stardock has an open LAN policy) which was just awesome. Was quite fun playing Demigod at a LAN with no lag or disconnects etc. Has anyone else here played Demigod at a LAN and if so, what were your experiences?
Well if anyone here can't get a Ready to Play serials you know who to contact :-)
Hey, well I just accessed the Beta through the Impulse system, had a look now and don't see where I would find out (I don't recall if I got an email).
It is not available to all. you can goto the ready to play section on the impulse website .. you will need to register .. and if you are lucky .. you will get a key.. So no - not everybody will be able to get this - even if they wanted to ...
Are you sure this applies if you go through the process as I have described through Impulse?
Man last night was bad for Demigod connectivity. I spent about 35 minutes trying to find a game, even tried hosting one myself however my connection to others last night was terrible (more so than usual). Any other SA players experience the same thing last night or recently? IS is my ISP, I have a 4Mbit line and the net in general seemed fine (not slow or lossy etc.) however I just could not for the life of me find a single game to join :( Also, trying to join and leave games left me
Ah ok, that sucks.
Damn, wish I had read this sooner. Been really busy this week unfortunately. Keep me informed though.
Yeah was cool playing with and against you Cranzy. Just sucked in the vs. u game I had someone on my side that was seemingly totally new to the game :-p
Well that's good enough for me :)
Ready to Play is open on my home PC 24/7 however I usually only look at playing Demigod after 8pm in the evenings (and usually only during the week). Mmm, that sounds strange, I have Demigod installed to D:\Games\Demigod and it works flawlessly (through Impulse or the Game Shortcut) for me. Perhaps trying reinstalling the game again, your Demigod info is kept in the 'My Games' folder under your Documents, backup before reinstalling to keep your settings and Single Player stats. <
Hey Nocturnksm , Please setup Ready to Play so that we can all easily connect with each other :-)
I also have a buddy, Av_ who is local so that makes 5. I can play with UB, Oak, Erebus, The Rook and Sedna and I'd say I'm average. Would love to play more strategically (i.e. with someone as opposed to almost always with an unknown). Oh btw guys, you need to try out Ready to Play. Under Preferences in Impulse, select the 'Beta versions' checkbox. Then go to the 'My Games' tab and install it. This will allow us to see each other even when not in the game (which is currently a
Yeah, we really need to try and get some local games going. When would suit you Nocturnksm ?
HAHA, yeah that would be pretty funny if it weren't half true :-p I'm going to try FNB's connect service. Basically it's pay as you go ADSL (just the account, not the line etc.) and you start off by bying R69 for 1Gb of unshaped bandwidth which apparently allows for a average 100ms advantage over a shaped IS/SAIX account. The best thing about it though is that the bandwidth lasts up to 12 months and seeing as I'd only use it for Demigod (which only uses 7mb for a 40 minute game, yeah we tested
