Sorry for posting with the wrong login, forum was being a bit buggy. I reposted with my account that's in the tournament. Basically saying the same thing, but more refined. As to your point about the slippery slope factor, theres no way to save games in demigod, which is a massive oversight on the part of our incompetent friends over at gpg. Even starcraft lets you save game, and that came out in the 90's. Since you can't save a game, there is no way to resume a crashed game. Therefore, there
It just occurred to me there is a possible problem with the current rules in place for the tournament. The current rule is that if there is a crash or dc or igs, and the game wasn't decided yet, that the game will be replayed with the same dgs. This is a good rule, but it is incomplete. The vulnerability I've discovered is that just because someone has to play the same dg, doesn't mean they have to play the same build. For example, someone could play a minion build, or not. Use a different fa
I see, if ur watching all the matches, I don't have time for that, so if you could recommend the best games to comment on, I will do my best to do those.
I am aware i promised you people commentary, but ive been really busy, and its a lot of work, i plan to get some pumped out soon, and will only be commentating the matches tagged with "commentary" on them at the top of this post, im guessing pacov has watched those and deemed them worthy, sry for the delay
For our match hedgie, i can do any day any time, as long as i know about it 24 hours in advance. you have to work out the rest with shreddies, as he is in the UK
Also, even if there is an absolute winner, random stuff happens, the game isn't perfect, the world isn't perfect. A game taking place on a different day could even effect the outcome. That's why double elimination or something with even more matches would be better, it lowers the chances of the rock paper scissors scenario and the effect of flukes, whether game related, or otherwise, from effecting the outcome. Plus obviously having the more interesting matches later on builds suspense and in
you guys don't pay attention, you think it can't change the end result, this isn't true at all, a different bracket can produce a different winner. There may not be absolutes, one team isn't necessarily the absolute best, just because they lose to someone in the second round, doesn't mean if they never faced that team, they wouldn't have beaten everyone else. For example some combos are better than others, one team could have the best of one combo and another team can have the best of
While Ptarth is right that all of those outcomes are equally likely, it is completely irrelevant to your discussion. In that case heads and tails are equally likely. Our bracket is made up of equally likely elements (the teams), but while these teams are equal in the random organization of the bracket, they are not actually equal to each other. So making them equal in the random draw is problematic. The argument isn't about whether its random or not, whether pacov is trust worthy, the argumen
No bracket will be "fair" in single elimination, random or not. The only ways to do it so its more fair is if its double elimination or where everyone plays everyone once and then the teams with the most wins play each other in the semi and finals. These take longer, thats the only problem. If someone wants to do an exhibition match, for prospective commentators to use as a demo commentary, that would be awesome. I was just going to use a match one of my friends had in 2v2 against hed
Honestly I think the matchups are going to create a bunch of crappy matches and a bunch of good ones early on that take out the best players. Like i predicted a few days ago before the bracket was even made. The only "fair" way to do it is double elimination or something even more thorough. It does not necessarily change the outcome, but it can. You are all assuming that one team is "the best" and they will win. This is not necessarily true. It is possible that a few teams will be really real
you better fix it before you get us destroyed :(
As for the commentary I already have a 2v2 on cataract that a friend gave me, that was commentable. Going to try to do it this weekend. Will post it when i do. Also theres going to be TONS of matches in this tournament, what i think would be best is for the games that arent too interesting and there'll be lots of those, a few minute long post commentary summarizing the game could be posted. Just watch the game, make a few notes and splice together the important parts of the game to make like
I think anything more thorough than single elimination would be better, whether its round robin, double elimination, whatever. Losing one matchup and then your out is bad. If you go up against a really good team thats only a bit better than yours, your out, but teams that are both crappy one of them gets to advance, it can turn out that the last round or even the last few are pointless, and that the real final match happened much earlier.
As for the commentary we've been real busy, were definitely going to have a demo commentary this weekend, stay tuned :)
I'd like to make a suggestion for the tournament format, the current format of random team matchups in single elimination is faster, but not better. It is very likely that the final matchup will not be the 2 best teams and therefore be anticlimactic. Most likely the better teams will eliminate each other earlier on and the final match and semifinals will be one sided. Also single elimination can take a few of the best teams out in the first round if they are placed with each other. I propose

I was suggesting whoever did the commentary also do the video ripping and syncing to make the whole thing easier, but if they can't do it, and my commentating team isn't chosen, I could do the heavy lifting for them. I would essentially rip the replay to avi for them, send them the file, they would then record their commentary and send it back to me and i would merge the two, and post it online. This is less ideal than one party doing the whole process, but some people aren't familiar with th
I just came up with a way to possibly improve the variety of the tournament. The previous proposal was to specify one dg had to be tb reg or da, the weakest dgs, and the 2nd can be whoever. The problem with this is if you have to have a weak one, ur going to pick a strong one as the second dg. This leaves out the middle dgs entirely, unless you want to lose. This system was thought up to prevent power matches from dominating the lineups, for example beast erebus, beast oak, etc, being the onl
For the commentary I would go with the commentators downloading the replays then using fraps or something to rip the replay to a video file. Then watching the avi simultaneously and recording a skype, vent, ts call etc. Then they'd use a video editing program to merge the audio file of the commentary with the video of the replay. Then this video can be posted online and people can download it. This way when people watch the replay it will always be synced with the audio, because some peoples

rembo666 played a 1v1 against me and he was losing like crazy, i was lvl 12 and he was lvl 6, i ahd 5 kills, etc. he says gg, invalid gamestates it and then has the balls to ask for a rematch. what a noob
Just got invalid gamestated by ssnowplow, was pantheon, they were definetly going to lose and he leaves, bam invalid gamestate. Oblok left after but it was ssnowplow who left first, you can see his ping is zero and it gamestated right after he left.
Py4eek was playing a 1v1 vs me and he lost, he was the host. He leaves the game after he says gg, and it never shows up in the stats, Maybe a random bug, but with his very high win %, I am a bit suspicious.
http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1154069/player/89309/ Zen_God hosted a 1v1 for "high skilled" and when i got to war score ten while he was still at 7, he dropped from the game. Since he was the host, he gets a win, which I'm sure he is aware of. Do not join a game hosted by this noob/cheater. I took a screenshot from the replay: As you can see he has 1 kill and 1 assis
