Ok, it looks like I made this post too early. The last game I started is going surprisingly well. I started relatively far from the other races and was able to colonize a good chunk of space before aliens took all the good planets. Here's the strategy: In begining, set Income Distribution to 70% military, 15% for other 2 fields. Government spending to 100%, tax at 33%. Net income will be negative but with the initial 1000 credits it can last for a long time. Set all planets to

well if there's one thing Stardock is good at it is designing interfaces. However, I don't like the current combat model of Galciv. And there's almost no control over resource management for planets. In this game, it takes like 20 battlecruisuers to kill a single battleship. Cause while the hitpoints decrease very slowly, the battleship gets stronger by leveling very quickly. No ship customization is also a big drawback when compared to MOO.

Not me. I tried a bunch of strategies, the aliens spread too quickly early in the game. Even if I stretch my population to 24 mil per planet (due to rapid colony ship production) I still get less planets than 1 dominating alien (there always seems to be 1 dominating the rest). And their population grows at least 10 times faster. So they simply outproduce me in ever way. Did anyone manage to win the game when all AI are set to "genius"? on big maps?

You guys are right. MOO3 is making some fundamental changes to the MOO2 theme. I'm not sure if I'm gonna like that. I was dissappointed with Civ3, cause I remember what Civ2 was like.

it's impossible to beat the game when all AI is "genius". It used to be possible in Beta 3A, but not in Beta 3B. AI simply outproduces and outnumbers the player, there's nothing the player can do about that. It's impossible to stay peaceful for very long either, once the AI becomes 10 times more powerful than the player, it will declare war.

I don't understand why Stardock would refuse to give this information, as it should be part of general game guide. And you don't answer my real question: why does approval rating drop significantly when Income Distribution is focused on 1 field at a time?

seeing the formulas would help me understand the game better. I wouldn't actually try plugging in numbers and calculating stuff I build moral improvements as soon as I can so that's not the issue. The fact is: when you place Income Distribution at 100% on any of the 3 fields, then approval rating quickly drops to 10%. Why?

5) Have Income Distribution for each individual planet rather than empire as a whole. This is very important. 6) Reduce Maintenance of BattleAxe to 4, increase Hit Points to 25. 7) Add "Escort" option to space ships. Make it so the ship in "escort" mode always follows the ship it is supposed to escort. Make sure the speed of both ships, one being escorted and one who provides escort, matches. 8) Add concept of "stealth" to the game. It would be like a percentage by whi

here's a funny thing AI did: First it offered me "finest ships to help me in war", then, right after that message, it declared war on me because "they need to honor their agreement"

you know, Phase II Factory for starbase is supposed to "assist workers on nearby planetary production." does it mean all planets within the sector are effected by bonus? or just 1 planet? by the way, I use that same colony ship picture as wallpaper for my laptop

I think BattleAxe is one of the most useless ships. It's maintenance cost is equal to that of BattleCruiser and the build time is only a little faster than BattleCruiser. In terms of its fighting ability, it totally sucks compared to BattleCruiser. So why build it? I'm playing with "genius" AIs yet they act like total idiots when it comes to war. Even tho they have tons of ships, they are reluctant to go into my territory. They often fly around pointlessly. And they barely try to send t

I didn't go into debt, I didn't buy anything from other empires. And I didn't have trade routes. All that effects the treasury, which is not the source of my problem. Even tho Stardock people may change formulas in the next update, it's still months away. It takes no more than 2 hours to write down the formulas I asked for. After reading some posts here, I notice other people are also interested in this information. As for propriatary nature of the formulas, I highly doubt

How soon can I get this info? The new game version has changed something in the formulas and now my best strategy doesn't work. My "approval rating" drops below 30% even with Tax rate being 0%. I need to know what's wrong

This game is fairly complex, in terms of economic simulation. That's a good thing, but the current game manual is inadequate to fully understand the game. I need the formulas used in calculating the following: Total Tax Revenue Population growth Approval Rating Planet morale These are the most important ones. I want the actual formulas with numbers, variables, and logical operators. If this kind of information is too technical for a regular game manuel, then put
