I can explain the msn one. Msn windows use their own skins with their own shapes. At best winfx shadows can barely adjust to windowblinds shaped skins, it probably doesnt have a clue about the shape of other specially skinned programs. The gaps you see are most likely normal. Regarding eudora pro, i dont use that program so i cant be sure why its not appearing, but i get a similar problem with Zonealarm. If i try to restore from tray with wi

good idea. but it does only makes something already possible a little easier. it should be realtivly easy to make an object which behaves like you want, and then use it as a template perhaps (put it on wincustomize )? I also second having all properties of objects available to script. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 AL

In the desktopX builder frequently i am creating editing etc and i break something a script refers to and have to fiddle a bit. no biggy, but it might be a good feature to have in the tasktray right click menu for desktropx builder: a disable/enable all scripts option which would turn off or on all scripts for all objects. i tried highlighing all the objects in desktopx object list and righclicking but the option there seemed to only refer t

heh heh, that has a quick solution that might not be equivilent to a mathematical inverse or anything. Think about the curve you have now. Mirror it across the x-axis, it now has the right shape, but it's from -200 to 0 on the y-axis, we want it from 0 to 200, so simply add 200 to every point on the curve! so -200 + 200 -> 0 and 0 + 200 -> 200, and we get the correct y-range. So, to mirror a function across x-axis, a rough method is to multipl

as an extra note, a general form of the function: -a*(x-b)/(x+a) a is roughly the closness of the 'curving' point to the origin, so INCREASING this number makes the function a more GRADUAL curve (I recommend sticking around 20-40, but increase this as you increase b) b is your limit, so b = 100 will make the function decrease from 100 to 0 in x = 0 to 100 and b = 200 will make the function decrease from 200 to 0 in

I did have a lengthy post about decreasing functions and other bits, but it would have still left you with trying to 'fiddle' a function like 1/x or 1/sqrt(x) to make something that goes from 200 to 0 with an 'even' curve, in the shape you wanted. So I just did it for you. This was still done with a bit of trial and error and a graphing program, but it does what you want. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

Re: the startmenu. Opening could be done with an object set to open the startmenu in the normal way, and have a script that runs on mouse button up that makes visible the 'extra' menu bits and brings them to the Always on Top. Then set the focus to the extra menu. Then have a script on the extra menu that calls on the On_KillFocus event to make it dissapear. That way when the user clicks elsewhere the menu. If that's unsuitable (because it would lo

Getting the function to something that's solvable using most scientific calculators: 200 = log b 10 translates to: b^200 = 10 take the 200th root of both sides -> b = 10^(1/200) simplify -> b = 10^0.005 = 1.011579 Just another rearrangement to show some more working on how to get b as the 'focus'. The last line used a calcul

Thanks Martin and Thomassen, both are very good ideas I probably would have come up with what Martin suggested, and thankyou for the actual script example thomassen, was just wanting to make use of any already built in method for saving arrays. Will try these out shortly ch

You are not authorized to perform this operation. body {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;font-size: .7em;color:black;} p {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;color:black;margin-top: -5px} b {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:bold;color:black;margin-top: -5px} H1 { font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;font-size:18pt;color:red }

At the moment, when you mouse over an object, it shows the mouse over state, but if you click (and show the mouse down state) and release, the object returns to its mouse away state even though the mouse is still over. The mouse over will only register again once the cursor has left the object, and returned again.

Would it be possible to add an Object.Saturation parameter in the next build? It would make a nice addition to the methods already available to make a quick and easy button state change. (like fading from greyed out to full colour) Saturation is the level of colour applied to an image, 0 saturation = grey shades, 100 = original colour, >100 excess colour saturation (super bright?) <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif"

I've experienced a number of 'goes up and dissapears' too Sometimes my theme doesn't save all the components in the theme. Sometimes doing things like grouping objects results in whole sets of objects being deleted without them being directly related to what was grouped. Scripts have refused to save changes until the theme is saved and the changes are remade, then they stick. During renaming, setting parents, and grouping procedures, so

You can make activex controls obey transparency settings. 1. Create control object through script editor 2. Ctrl Left Click on control to select it 3. Right click to bring up menu 4. go to properties -> state -> and set an opacity level 5. Create another object. Assign it an opacity level. 6. set the control as a child of the new object. 7. the control's opacity will now apply. any good? example screeny:<BR

dkwb: When you selected to download the bootskin from wincustomize (I assume) what was the name of the file that downloaded? If the file had a .bootskin file extension, you should have been able to just double click on it to install. If the file has a .zip file extension, you should rename it to a .bootskin, then double click on it. At no point should you unzip/unpack the contents of the bootskin file you downloaded (except

OK I checked. The only file you may need to include with the .bmp is the .wfs file. Open one from another shadow set you have with notepad and have a look at it. It contains some ini type values etc. I suspect this file needs to be edited to match your shadow bitmaps in some way. The other files *.WBD's appear after a shadow has been applied and are auto generated by windowfx. The wfs file seems to be fairly straight forward,

You need a little more detail clearly saying what you are trying to do. It should be possible to do the left-click action on Object A to open a file or folder name stored in a variable. Now what is the 'controlling' you are trying to do to object B at the same time?

1 Replies 1,776 Views

actually, the shadows are just bitmaps I believe, one for top bottom left and right, and the 'special' files are generated by windowfx automatically for it's own use. I'll check when I get home (at uni now). I haven;t made any shadows but there are a few in the library and more at aquasoft website library i think. Those authors will be your best bet, but I'll still have a look. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0

Here is my idea for separating the scripting a little from the objects: When you right click an object and look at it's properties you usually see the button 'edit script'. Instead what about a 'script' dropdown selection box. You click the downarrow and it shows all script files (new file extension?) residing in the desktopx/objects/theme directory[you can select a different directory for scanning too], and you can select one to use for the o

Hi. I think some sort of platform for editing DX objects in, that is a bit 'safer' then the current 'desktop editing' style. I have only just started trying to make objects, and occasionally have stuffed a script up, to find my object crashed and non retrievable, along with the script it goes and I have to rewrite. Another thing is my concept of how a 'desktop interaction' style program should be. Basically I think of my desktop as containing

we could try, but unless we draw the characters ourselves, and get permission from GAINAX to use them wincustomize probably won't host it. then again it might. dunno. but it'd be cool to see more (any?) anime themed windowblinds. Now that windowblinds has a Japanese counterpart company selling it, we will ^_^

Ever since I found windowblinds years ago I wanted to see a nice, beautiful rainbow skin. Some existed but I found them are bit 'harsh' and quickly became unusable. So I set out for something softer and more blended, but still very colourful. The almost finished result is this: http://www.freewebtown.com/skarn/rin.JPG A few of comments so far have been in the realms of 'eww pink' and 'it burns it burns!' <img src="http://images.stardock.c
