Yes, it does seem way too easy to win games by just buying out all the opposition. Trading for planets also seems pretty bugged. Many times I will offer a Minor race all my techs and trade goods for all of their planets and the text will turn yellow, not allowing me to trade. Yet if I change the order I select their planets in, the text will change green and I can make the trade. For example I will offer all my techs for planets A, B and C and they wont accept it - but if I off

I just had something similar in a new game started in a Gigantic galaxy with Dumb AI. Just a few turns into the game I got a message from the Drengin saying that they were surrendering to me! This was before making contact with any other civ, plus it turns out the Drengin were over on the other side of the galaxy.

Cutural Victory seems to be either changed or removed in 3A... In several 3A games I've owned every single sector but have not got Cultural victory since version 3.

Honestly I think GalCiv has one of the nicest interfaces I've seen in a strategy game for a long time. I didn't have to check the manual to find out what does what as it is all pretty much self-explanitary. After my first couple of games I knew the interface by heart and was much more comfortable with it than I was with the interface in Civilization or MOO2.

Did the winning race own 80% of the sectors by any chance? It seems that if they get a Cultural Victory it actually says "Military Defeat" on the end of game summary when it should really say "Cultural Defeat".

I'm another big MOO fan who was originally just waiting for MOO3 and wanted something similar as "back up". But I am totally addicted to GalCiv now, I love it! I'm hesitant to comment on balance and gameplay issues at the moment as I am still very new to the game and have a lot to learn. One thing I know has been discussed is the option to turn off victory conditions, this would be very nice... I noticed the same thing... I always think I am doing well until I suddenly notice the other civilzations all have planets with a 15 billion population while my planets are 2 billion at the most. Guess I have a lot of learning to do :)

Hey guys. I'm hoping to get involved in the GalCiv beta soon, but before purchasing I'd like to know what the _exact_ differences are between purchasing just GalCiv or the complete Drengin Network. Is there any benefit to Drengin Network aside from getting access to the other Stardock games? If I am only interested in GalCiv (both retail and beta) is there any reason at all why I would want to spend more on getting Drengin Net? IE: If I pay the $44.95 for GalCiv will I
