#126 by Tech Cat - 7/20/2003 7:36:42 PM Who cares if Gamecube plays DVDs or not. If you want to watch DVDs then use a DVD player. PS2 use to be my DVD Player but I later got a real DVD player because gaming consoles suck for DVD. Gaming consoles do one thing well and that is play games. No doubt, and I don't use the Xbox as a DVD player,

#113 by Tech Cat - 7/20/2003 7:16:35 PM Yes XBOX has a built in ethernet card but it does NOTHING without the XBOX Live kit and the subscription to XBOX Live. Ever heard of Xbox Connect? $30 for the remote and how much for the Gamecube modem? Does the Gamecube play DVDs? [Message Edited]

Seriously. If I wasn't there and didn't catch it (happened when I booted up) my room would of caught on fire. It just about hit my wall (about 8 inches apart). It was getting ridiculously hot (keep the side off) and practically never cooled down when off . Was just about to replace it. Am just glad I was there.

Haha, tell me about it. My power supply blew out a hard drive and a cd-rw drive. Then, a couple of days later the power supply literally blew up with flames coming out the back like a hot rod (gotta get pics up). Mobo and cpu are still here. But like my brother says, it's when it boots up that matters .

If you have ever played Mario Sunshine or Zelda, they are both Doly Digital 5.1. It's up to the developer to add it or not, the console doesn't play a part in that. Ummm, no. Gamecube is incabable of producing true 5.1. Maybe Pro Logic II, but not 5.1 Dolby Digital. Get your facts straight. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=

I suspect that is most likely rumors spread by Nintendo bashers. Nintendo makes top quality hardware and it's a shame that some mean spirited people out there want to spit on Nintendo and want nothing more than to have Nintendo fail because they are Playstation fans or XBOX fans. No, believe me, the first part came from the horses mouth if

@ post #59 It doesn't matter Tech Cat, it's still there. How bout all the other innovative features? I'm not tryin to say Gamecube or any other system sucks, but set it straight on what the Xbox has done and given and how it raised the standards. [Message Edited]

50 by Tech Cat - 7/17/2003 10:54:24 PM Hard drives break. XBOX is the least likely to still be operational in the future when PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube are considered vintage. Gamecube has fewer moving parts therefor a longer life expectancy. And this is silly. You use your computer's hard drive how much and how long does it last?

I mean lets face facts: #49 by The DJ - 7/17/2003 10:34:00 PM Lets look at how it is: Xbox has innovated HD play, 5.1 Dolby Digital in 99% of games, no need for memory cards (maybe you wanna keep dishing out money), custom soundtrack when developers implement it, System link, rip your cds to the hard drive and listen to em, downloadable levels and

Haha, They are still the innovative leader of video games. The only strength Microsoft and XBox has, is online play. Lets look at how it is: Xbox has innovated HD play, 5.1 Dolby Digital in 99% of games, no need for memory cards (maybe you wanna keep dishing out money), custom soundtrack when developers implement it, System

Who bumped this? Anyway, I might of said it already, but the Xbox's lineup is as good/better than that of the Ps2. Now consider how many years Sony had a console out before the Ps2, got their name around, developed a fan base and developed relationships with developers where games were in development before the Ps2's release. Also, how long was the Ps2 out before the release of the Xbox? Just as good of a lineup really says something for a first generation cons

I use the Quicksilver WMP skin and it uses 40-50% cpu usage alone with mp3s. I'm on a 750 AMD, 512 ram, GeForce 2 and XP Pro. Not sure if this is normal. Using WB 4.1, Cursor XP, Icon Packager and Sysmetrix.
