The number one reason I haven't made any skins is because I have absoulutely ZERO artistic talent. I can write code, debug code, and test code with the best of them, but if it means putting graphic ideas into a skin, I'm of little talent. I realize that these skin authors spend many hours on their skins. What impresses me the most, is the artistic talent that goes into creating a skin. Most people can learn to code if they put their mind to it, but "art" is another story. That

There are a bunch of message boards already written (usually in a scripting language like Perl) that you can implement in your web page. You just need to make some script modifications. Obviously, the more extensive the board, the more in depth the changes. Do a web search for some. I know there are some available on Yahoo.
I unzipped the .XPtheme file and got them working. When I first unzipped, I just looked at all the files and didn't do the extract because I just saw a cluster of .bmp files. After doing the extract, all the themes were in seperate folders. I was then able to load them individually. Thanks everyone for the help.
JamMeister33: The download file from Pixtudio is a .exe file. When you launch the .exe file it extracts and tries to load the suite. What it really does is extract a .XPtheme file that is supposed to be used in WinStyles. It also automatically installs a wallpaper, the cursors, and the Trillion theme. After completing this .exe execution, WinStyles is automatically launched. If you've ever used WinStyles you know that you select different "items" to skin and also select the "suite" used to skin
Alexadrie, I have already sent you an email. If you can send me the individual theme files in a single zip file, that would be great. I unzipped the .xptheme file and all that is in there are a boatload of .bmp files and some .ini file. I could probably piece these together but it would take a looooong time. I could find the .wb4 or whatever window blinds file is used. Thanks for the help though.
I purchased the PixOS suite from Pixtudio and can't get the suite to load. Supposedly, you're just supposed to run an executable and all the skins will load. No such luck. After running the .exe file, I'm left with an .XPtheme file. If I load this file in WinStyles, the preview of the suite shows up, but you can't load any of the individual themes. You can't even load the whole suite. All that is loaded is the XPCursor theme and the Trillion theme. I've searched for the WB theme and the
I think Rdefx is correct, free WB upgrade for a year. When I purchased OD in December, I knew WB4 was on the horizon and was told that I would be entitled to the upgrade for free. Frogboy, has something changed?
You're right. I meant typical AOL intrusions, something Microsoft is also guilty of.
NextStart is a great tool, and it is well documented and pretty simple to use. I rely on it so much that if I can't find a WB skin of either the same name OR a WB skin that will somewhat match a NextStart skin, I won't use the WB skin. I know this limits the skins I use for WB (and there are some great ones), but I rely on NextStart so much that I won't use a WB skin if it means not having a matching or good looking NextStart skin. I prefer CoolPlay to WinAmp. WinAmp has typica
Gregory2001.... clicking on "Subscriber Resources" just tells me about levels and the benefits of subscribing. I'd like to be able to at least see a screen shot of the "suites" that are available to subscribers. Like I said above, it just might make a fence sitter jump.
kith, I tried that and it still doesn't work. Unzipping the .sdtheme file does not give you all the skins for the different applications.
I had this same problem when I purchased the UniverseMetal suite. Pixtudio refunded my money since there is no solution at the moment. I'm still hoping they get this gets resolved because those are two awesome skins. On another note, for you WinCustomize subscribers... supposedly, you get access to some "subscriber suites" when you purchase a subscription to WinCustomize. Is there a screen shot or someplace where "potential" subscribers can view these? It might make sway some people tha
I want to let it be known that treetog and Alexandrie (pixtudio) acknowledged that there is a compatibility problem with the file I was sent and WinStyles. They have graciously refunded my money. I'm still hoping this can be resolved and I can get the suite.
I was browsing Stardock's site and came across the TabLaunchPad program. I haven't seen it used much around here. It seems similiar to NextStart's Workshelf. Is it like the forgotten step child of Object Desktop?
Sir WOM.... I agree completely.
It took me less than 5 minutes to crash it. It's worth what it costs.
OK, let's say WinStyles is the problem. Since the ONLY file that came with the puchase uses WinStyles, it's up to Treetog and/or Pixtudio to supply me with file(s) that do work. Directly from their web site... "The suite include graphical interface and special edition of Stardock Winstyles installer, so this suite will install automatically even if you don't have Winstyles." Still waiting on an email..........
Thanks c242. I'm slowly making some progress trying to get this installed. On another note... and I'll make it clear... I DON'T condone software piracy. With that being said, I can fully understand why so many people don't pay for "shareware". Support is non-existant and if there are problems you have to hunt for answers. I find it rather disturbing that Treetog can find the time to read this thread and thank people for the compliments, yet he can't find the time to reply ONCE
I did a search for the files. They're nowhere to be found. My unzip program won't uzip the .SDtheme file. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Thanks for the help, but I did that and there are 3 files in the .exe file. Setup.exe, a .ini file, and and .SDtheme file. I ran the .exe file and it didn't help either. For some reason, when I hit apply in WinStyles the theme unzips and acts as if it installs, but the only thing that changes is my wallpaper. I have WB, NextStart, WorkShelf, and ObjectBar installed. Thanks again for the suggestion. Treetog........where are you?
I went ahead and purchased the skin. Too bad it won't install. I downloaded and ran the UniverseMetal.exe file and at the end of the installation it launches WinStyles. I then applied the UniverseMetal theme and it lookes like it is loading but nothing happens. If I launch WindowBlinds, NextStart, etc. the new UniverseMetal themes are not listed and can't be found anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
Bill... yes it probably would. However, and I can't speak for Fuzzy, the hope is that J2TTX gets the message that his writing composition makes him come across like a 5 year old and maybe he'll consider posting in a more mature manner.
When using this skin, I take it if you use Object Bar, you won't use NextStart? Or is it possible to have NextStart menus popup using a "hotspot"?
I tried SysMetrix and could never get it to recognize that I had an email. I went into the properties and AFAIK, I had it configured correctly. Could there be some trick I'm missing?
I'm not a fan of WinAmp and use MusicMatch for my MP3 enjoyment and for burning CDs. Has there been any discussion of this site starting a library for MusicMatch skins?
