Looking a lot better, in my opinion. The volcano environment still looks a little strange, but all in all, pretty good. I do hope the weather effects will look more intense than what can be seen here. -pac
MegasAlexander
This time, I'll be there, too. Hope my game doesn't freeze, as it often does. :( -pac
The buildings look like... like they're floating above the surface. Is the top layer of the crystalline worlds supposed to be opaque? -pac
Two very valid points. It has been claimed again and again that Ashes can have battles with thousands of units on the screen. And I do believe these claims. But in my own games, I've never come that far. Battling the pathfinding AI is something I also do all of the time. Add to this the fact that there is hardly any unit feedback and it makes for a very demotivating environment. I've lost huge armies just because they took forever to squeeze through choke points and I didn'
Oh okay. Thanks for letting me know. Will there be 4-packs of Escalation? Talked to my friends and none of them is willing to buy the this new version, so I guess I'll have to do it. :) -pac
Wow, the game looks very fluid in that video, not only the way units move but also the zoom speed. I like what I see. But then I don't understand pricing of escalation. I already own Ashes, bought the 4-pack from your website. So I should be entitled to a 75% rebate, making Escalation 10€, right? But when I want to buy it in steam, steam tells me to pay 20€. I still think it's a little sad that Escalation owners will not be able to play with regular Ashes players. Tw
ledarsi, I love how you put so much thought into army management. On most points I agree, but there are some where I simply don't, especially concerning your point "Garrisons & Army UI". Your suggestions in that regard will lead to game play mechanics that I think will not be feasible to integrate into the game and if they are integrated, might hardly ever be used at all. -pac
Moomo: the negatives might not outnumber the positives, but they're more important to me. If somebody asked me "should I buy this game" I would say no. You said "Third faction will come in time": This is exactly the problem with my review. I can only review what is there and not what will be there or even what I hope will be there. -pac
I don't completely understand the "please give reviews part". So far I haven't given a review, because I believe the game is not yet done. If I treat the game in its current state as it was done, I basically MUST give it a negative review. On the other side, I can't give it a positive review because it wouldn't be fair towards potential customers to act as if features were already implemented, that simply aren't yet but hopefully still come. If I wrote a review now
Brad, it would be nice if Ashes could have at least the same AI helpers as Dark Reign from 1997:
Dark Reign was one of the best. Thanks for bringing this up! -pac
What I really would like to see and maybe it is in the game already and I just don't know how to use it: Shooting while moving backwards. So even though your troops are slowly retreating to safer areas, they keep dishing out damage to the enemies. -pac
Lots of good points here. But a "flee" system like in the Company of heroes games for example doesn't seem right for a high-scale strategy game such as Ashes, in my opinion. -pac
In my opinion: highest prioroty should be to not alienate non-DLC buyers and thus split the community even more (I'm looking at you, gog-steam-incompatibility). Second to that there should be rewards and lots of it. However, they should be cosmetic, like tons of extra colors for units, etc OR the DLC should be non-mandatory so that DLC buyers+early buyers can play with people who didn't buy either. The Relic games are prime examples for that, where you can play as Dark Eldar o
Very good points have been stated here. 2v2 and 3v3 Automatch is highly needed. -Alex
It also happens on a monitor with 1680*1050 which is a higher resolution than required. See attached screenshot. This should be addressed soon. -pac
For me the game crashed twice today. Very annoying. I didn't even do anything special, at least I can't remember. Game just crashed and set me back to the desktop. -pac
Alright, thanks for the clarification. -pac
Hi! I don't know if this has been posted before, but in case 2 monitors are used, the user interface of the game blocks out most of the game content itself. I attached a screenshot to show what I mean. -pac
Steam uses Steam servers, GoG uses GoG servers.
I do understand that. But this is actively splitting the game between Steam users and GoG users. I just don't like the idea. For the future I hope that Stardock will find a way to let computer players play together, no matter where they bought the game from. -Alex
Hi everybody, for all the Multi Player fans out there, I created a steam group called "AshesMulti" which shall counteract the problem of the low MP head count at the moment. The group should be used to organise competitive and cooperative MP games. So if you want to stomp the AI or battle each other, just join the group and get going. You can find it at http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AshesMulti or just
The game has landed on gog.com but steam and gog.com version are not compatible with each other. I honestly see potential for a shit storm: http://www.gog.com/forum/ashes_of_the_singularity/forcing_gog_galaxy_multiplayer_between_steam_and_galaxy_updates/page1 -Alex
Hi guys, when it comes to testing the MP mode thoroughly, count me in. I've got two friends and we've been playing RTS games for decades. We do it mainly for the MP experience and often ignore the campaign. So, what do you think? I created a steam group for organising multiplayer matches, it is called AshesMulti http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AshesMulti Feel free to join. -Alex
Hi! I bought the game and the game asks for feedback. So here it comes. Of course, this feedback just reflects my opinion. As a RTS veteran (playing them for more than 20 years now, with thousands of hours put especially into Relic games). 1) More resolutions need to be implemented. And they need to work. My brother and my friend both have problems running this game at resolutions lower than Full HD. The right side of the screen is cut off. 2) One of my friends runs th
Now that I bought the game and it has moved to early beta, I am even more concerned. The landscape looks still desolate, bland and empty. Together with the unbelievably generic unit appearance this creates a boring game to look at. And that is ironic, truly ironic, with an graphics engine as powerful as this one. -Alex
I support this idea! -pac
