I am on Fences 4. Today I received the offer of an upgrade. I clicked a 'what's new' link provided by the upgrade notice. The result was information about Fences 5. I told Fences to upgrade itself. It upgraded to a new version of Fences 4 (with backported fixes, I presume). What happened is welcome. That I was left unclear about what was happening was not. That is problem 1. Problem 2 is that I saw the following displayed in a window. Reduce distractions with Cha

This page within the forum has information on how to disable the update nag and thus on how one can continue to use the software that one has bought without being pushed repeatedly to buy a new version of the software.

There is at least one mention of this forum of Fences causing the renaming of a file to rename multiple files. That is a serious problem. Just now I encountered it again. I have Fences 4.0.7.2 on Windows 10 Pro - 22H2 (2009: 19045). Surely a bug-fix release is in order.

Seemingly it remains true - on Fences 4.0.7.2 - that a fairly large number of icons slows the computer considerably. I have some thirty-five icons and four fences. My PC is reasonably fast (Win 10 Pro 21H2, 2009: 19044); quad-core i7; 16GB RAM; the icons are stored on a SATA III SSD). With earlier versions of Fences, I observed a slow-down once one reaches approximately that number of icons (where the icons - to be clear - are all within Fences). The slow-down consists in this: a dela

@AzDude I do not believe that I am subscribed to the WinCustomize forum. Or at least the subscriptions page does not show that subscription. @Basj Given that the problem is not yet fixed, and given my experience of Stardock (not) fixing things, I am not holding my breath. Indeed I suspect that I will have to block, client-side, all Stardock email. I can just about put up with the brokenness of Stardock's software, but to have the support forum (which is

The unsubscribe page says: 'To stop receiving emails from individual posts, mouse over the post below, click on the Subscription Options button, then select the "Do not email me updates for this post" option.' Yet, which is the subscription options button? The one showing a star? I clicked on that icon and nothing happened. I tried two browsers: Firefox and Chrome. Please fix this.

A 'Associate Technical Support Analyst' told me that I needed (for what good reason?) to reproduce here that which I had told him. So I do so, as follows. My system: Windows 10 Pro - 21H2 (2009: 19044); Fences 4.0.0.3. As someone else wrote in an extant thread on this forum: ‘when I drag and drop a file from the browser and then rename it, fences <strong data-renderer-mark="

Fences 4.0.3 has a bug - or collection of bugs - to do with renaming. The problems or some of them seem to go back to at least 2018. See on this forum these reports: here ; here ; here (and there may be other similar reports)

Fences 4, for which I paid money, has a problem that began - and not just for me - in a beta for a Fences 3 edition. The problem is that the desktop wallpaper disappears occasionally. This situation strikes me as fairly outrageous. My system: Windows 10 Pro - 21H1 (2009: 19043); Fences 4.0.0.3.

OK, here's the problem - the one with the currency I mean (though I encountered new problems too, which I will document here). I use a VPN. I use it with UK servers. However, the VPN is based in Sweden and this is what your software somehow detected. (I saw a mention of the country code 'SE' on your webpage - and the Swedish currency is the kroner.) I think the underlying problem is the company FastSpring, which you use for payments. I know from experience what others know: that compa

I get the impression that the problem whereby Fences temporarily removes one's desktop background - which has been reported more than once in this forum - is not going to be fixed until version 4 of Fences. This disappoints, especially since, if I remember correctly, the problem was first reported by beta-testers who were testing a release of Fences . . 3 . Except . . I see that Fences 4 is actually out, and not in beta, but my existing copy of Fences (3.1.3.3) says that my co

@Basj, 1) You say, 'Noted'. Well, are the developers working on the problem at issue, please? 2) Do you mean an active Fences subscription? If you do: what is one of those? I myself (as against the other user in this thread) have on my Stardock record a Fences 2 purchase and a purchase of an upgrade to Fences 3. I note also (as you did not) that Fences 4 is presently . . alpha software.

It happens with user image file backgrounds too. I reported the problem already on this thread . That thread was closed without the problem being acknowledged and indeed so far as I can tell without the problem being investigated.

Just now I installed AMD's 'Adrenaline software' - before I was using the AMD video driver bundled with Windows - and my Recycle Bin was stuffed eight ways to Friday. To get the bin back, I had to: find a particular down arrow in Files - clicking which took me into the bin; using Fences's menu to disable Fences. Whenever I re-enable Fences, the Bin disappears again. Given the other problems (see the mistitled 'support thread') of the recent version of Fences, and Stardock's cavalier attitude

@Sean Drohan Thank you for your reply. That reply has two problems. 1 None of the difficulties that I myself described have to do with either 'crashing' or 'prompting'. 2 '[W]e would much prefer to resolve them over offering a prior version' - eh? Resolve them instead of offering a . . 'prior' version? I have no idea what you mean. Please make yourself clear.

@Sean Drohan I asked above whether a maintenance build would soon be with us and whether in the meantime a link to an older, more functional version of Fences would be provided (for those who lack an installer for such a version). Unless I miss something, no answers to those questions have been provided. Please provide them.

Fences can create log files when it encounters problems (even when the user has enabled no extra logging). One of those files asks the reader to send the file to you. It says: 'Please submit this file to [email protected] , along with a description of the problem you experienced. Please put 'Fences Debug Info' as the subject of this email.' Yet, if one does submit the file to the email address, then one gets

Is Stardock working upon a maintenance release that fixes the problems? Presuming 'yes': in the meantime, please give a download link, here, to the last version of Fences that was stable / worked properly. Thank you. EDITED to insert a word I had omitted.

Ever since installing Fences 3.1.3.3 (over the top of a prior installation) my desktop background disappears intermittently (!). Moreover, sometimes individual en-fenced icons (which are not the only icons within any given fence) appear only on mouse-over. I have Windows 10 Pro - 21H1 (2009: 19043). Please advise. I could do without this hassle and I wish I had not upgraded (or rather 'upgraded') Fences.
