Why would there be? From history, we know the fate of the great mercantile city states, and countries which did not expand their sphere of influence. It's a self-imposed handicap, and a challenge. You may as well demand that winning the game without using iron be as easy as when using it.
From history point of view, more cities you have more grow should be there - large successful empires attract

If player A is constrained by growth and player B by food, balance is just fine.
Disagree. This means that having as many cities as possible is the only valid strategy, in the sense of efficiency. I cannot choose to have 1-2 cities hoping first to get them strong and big before expanding, since they will be capped quickly by food limits. There is no advanta

Also you should be able to realize that those can never be precise - they are different armies/fractions around. What is easy for one faction, is not necessarily easy for another and vice versa. Bear can be weak for army of archers or mages, but is devastating for melee ones. Should it be hard/medium or easy? Hence, the best method is to check each unit

Good advice for the beginners to Sean's mod: play Verga (or whatever you spell his name). He is really nice killing machine allowing early expansion. Wait till you see 8k+ hp :)

Because the vanilla game has never been in a situation where someone has to attack a city twice. I don't think it's ever come up.
Not true. I have seen this error in vanilla quite often. Few times has been attacked by more than one army at the time. Also you

I think, personally, that mp is quite impossible for FE for a simple reason: auto-resolve of battles ruins game's balance. Hence, all battles have to be played on a tactical level. This causes simultaneous turns to be impossible, and you have to play one person after another .... Second, devs are not going to spend huge amount of resources to include option that would be appreciated by small group of people. If over 100k people bought a game, and couple hundred are interested in l

I remember some initial problems running FE on new windows 8 (i am not sure if i remember correctly, but i think they are the same as in OP), upgrading windows solved them.

I forgot: about research - sure you do not need other techs... For instance, you do not need more soldiers in one troop, nor armies of 9 units.... That's also a problem - you need very, very advance civic technologies to field really effective army. I just have seen an army of trolls having together 8k of hp ... I just wonder how much hp they will in the end game.... One more issue: regarding recovering hp. I think, at least in the cities, it should be by perce
