I think it depends on the game really. I've noticed in Sandbox mode that the resources are generated randomly (as far as amount as well as where they are located). So some games, I have alot of resources, and others it's kind of barren. However, keep researching the adventure tech tree. There are techs to unlock more resources, techs that unlock quests, and techs that raise your notable location level. It's not too intuitive on which does what, so read the description of each tech carefully.

Ok, I realize English isn't everyone's first language, but this has been bothering me. They are FACTIONS....they are NOT fractions. They are not numbers! 1/4...2/19....69/145....THOSE are fractions...
In descending order of my degree of longing: 1. As it is now, there's no way to find out how much money you need to hire someone until after you already have the necessary amount. 2. Whiel I'm at it, I wish you could cast a spell by double-clicking it in the spellbook.
1. That's not true. Left click on the NPC in question. Then in the bottom left of the UI, the hire button will be grayed out, either hold

It doesn't always crash on me, but here's the dump file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8949112/1/Elemental1_05-2010-08-25T21-36-29-137.zip

The problems I see are: * AI is very weak * game mechanics aren't implemented enough (ex: high level Magic spells don't scale, no meaningful documentation, bad interface, odd content, etc.) * Multi-player isn't activated. Thats the better way to do it anyways (Impulse). Rather than installing, then patching.
Not only that, but you don't HAVE to log in to play the game. Only if you want updates. Or play multiplayer, but thats kind of obvious.
Do you have a firewall running? I've seen some other people have problems installing because for some reason, their firewall keeps blocking it.
Well, it all depends on who you ask. Some people are still experiencing some bugs and crashes (though I think some has been blown out of proportion). I am not having any problems with it right now. I think it's a game well worth purchasing (obviously because I have it) seeing as I pre-ordered, and have played the beta. Yes, it's true there are things that can be tweaked, but in my mind, for being just released, the game is great. I mean, they put out the pre 0 day build on sunday (well, reall

I noticed that alot of people are complaining about balance. I think the game is actually better balanced than some people realize. It varies depending on the skill, map size, and how many other factions you play against. How about this idea? Have a "best balance" button on world creation where you simply pick the size of the map, and the game automatically picks the best factions to play against (along with dif lvl), and the correct amount of them to make the best balance. I don't know, just
Because this a "research" thread, I'll ask this here. I am slightly confused on how research works. Say I click on Military and there is a list of "possiblities". Once that research finishes, I am given all of the green ones (that dont say likely/unlikely) plus a couple that say likely/unlikely. Now as I understand it, I can choose any of the greens that will guarantee I get that particular research. What I am confused on is the likely/u
While I want to love this game for its ideas and scope, the AI is still not up to par for TBS games. Here is a list of some key issues with suggestions - it's by no means a comprehensive list. 1) City Management -- Speaking of build queues, get one. This is the 21st century. Not having a build queue is a real time waster. 3) Make End Turn Button Mandatory -- Stardock obviously thinks it's a great i
You know, I see what some of you are saying about this. But things aren't always that easy. Like it has been posted on here before, they had a choice of releasing it Aug 24, or sometime in February next year. I agree, things are a little weird here and there, but at least for me, the game has been solid now since the updates. I can alt tab without a problem. I played for about 3 or 4 hours straight before bed last night. It's not just a case of "we're not ready, push it back a month". They do
I dont think it's a Win7 64 problem. As I, and alot of other people here have Win 7/64 with no problems. Only thing I can think of is are you sure you're logging into Impulse with the correct account/password? Sounds like Impulse doesn't think you have the game, when apparently you do. You shouldn't have to do any activation since the game is tied to your Impulse account.
So I was playing the campaign, and sailing my army around when all of a sudden, I lost by conquest. Nothing appeared, I couldn't see what the hell happened. I just died somehow (along with about 20 archers, and 20 other soldiers, and the other frigate filled with soldiers). If there's some weird sea creature killing me, I want to see it damnit! I don't mind getting my ass kicked once in a while (challenge is what makes a game good), but not knowing what the hell happened is really annoying. A
It's been like that since the beta (at least since 3 that I know of). It IS rather annoying.
I got a few more crashes along the way when playing the same campaign. Here are the zip files. Should I still post these? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8949112/1/Elemental1_00-2010-08-23T22-11-02-931.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8949112/1/Elemental1_00-2010-08-23T22-13-02-618.zip <a h

Honestly, it's hard to look at another space tbs. GalCiv is my favorite game ever, so it would take a rediculously good game to even come close to it. And I'm going to judge a book by it's cover here, it's nothing even remotely close to GalCiv. So hah!
I've been messing around with the tile editor, and can't seem to figure out how to get the effects to work. Is this just me? It's really annoying having to load a map that I placed the tile onto to see the effect. I must be missing something...
Has anyone actually uploaded anything through the Impulse client? I haven't seen anything but the four that have been there. Is this working? I haven't put anything up there yet that I would be proud of. Heh I had one that had 5 islands, and it turned out to not work so well in practice. *shrug* Also, has anyone done any tactical battle maps? I'd like to see some different maps there.
Well, I have to say that it's definitely better now than in previous betas I've played (only since 3A). It's nice to be able to train a Raid of troops, with more "experience". Although in a weird way, I'm disappointed. It plays alot like the kingdom. They look a bit different, but they play very similar. Ok, empires use wargs, kingdom horses...but there's no strategical difference. It would be cool to see maybe horses faster, but wargs add some attack? As much as I like that you can now train
