After having played it for a while I noticed that the extra tier needed for expanding to all near worlds, yes also the new planet types, did slow my expansion. Not very much but it sure did. So at the start during the initial quick expansion phase I dare say the economy got slower. Also is it my imagination or are the worlds better defended by neutrals? It feels like I'm having to build more research than before to expand as fast as I'm used to both with Civic and Military. Wh

There is also the culture thing. The Vasari experiment might have been about exposing dissidents to phase space and phase space interruptors technology. The result was a phase spacing hyper variant of Justin Bieber. He/it made the crews insane and the hyper rabid fans that he made possible gnawed on the ships until the point where they were so damaged that they fell apart. More seriously. I think it would be interesting if the great pursuer isn't a physical menace a

I have a task for you Oddski_Boddski . Mecha-Lenin need a proper ending to our excellent welcome. Since it's friday I suggest a sweet Pony With a Beer picture. Just to show that we're a quality community you know. Wouldn't want him to get the wrong ideas about us.
Interesting idea. I never actually build corvettes because their damage output, health and armour is so low. Are they really that good? Edit: Almost forgot; I play on Normal Start, not Quickstart. I don't know how important the difference is.
Corvettes are very good in the beginning if you use many of them. They're cheap, fast to build and pack

Instead of buying 2 levels for your Akkan and the following I would go with Military Lab -> Corvettes -> build corvettes and after that in no particular order, build corvettes, upgrade your capital planet and research civilian colonization techs when needed or resources aren't needed for something else. Don't wait too long to get some LRF.

Totally off topic but I really have to take a pause from forums. Was over on a Timegate forum, saw a Brony signature and my first thought was "A Sins compadre!" and the second was to write a post about it in that thread. Man this is getting to me!

Let's continue building on this. We might even get a guide off of it. :) Keep building ships all the time but beware Fleet Research as GoaFan77 said. Don't build a fleet so large that it needs so much Fleet Research that it's crippling your economy. Play aggressive and try to find the sweet spot where your Fleet Research is enough for you to continue pushing your enemy back and still have enough resources to continuously replenish your losses. It's a com

From the information you've given I think you play Sins TOO much as an 4X game. You have to be a lot more aggressive and rush much earlier than in standard 4X games. In short don't waste much resources in defence if it's not a strategically important spot, research less and use resources mainly to pump out ships. A fleet is mobile and can be used both to defend and attack. Research the most important technologies like for example colonization
options? oh, damn... you were serious about this. much was asked for back in 2008 to 2010 and deathmatch type stuff and options are just not part of the 4X experience even if other 4X type games have them.
What? Configuring a sandbox game to your liking have been a big part of 4X games for a long time. I think I'm missing your meaning here...

It's practical, cheap and good for sales for game companies. Yeah we consumers knows that. That doesn't stop many consumers from disliking steam. Therefore the question "Is there a non steam version?" will continue being asked by consumers every time a none Valve game go on steam. Obviously I'm one of those that dislike steam. I tolerate it but if there's a non steam version I chose that. Oh and the only really good reason for cons

I have always missed something like a Cruiser that is more like a capital ship. All ships except capitals and titans have a specific role and only one attack (I think. Was a while since I played Sins.). I've always found that boring. Give me something between a frigate and a capital with a couple different attacks. Would add to the eye candy too.
