Currently, Diplomatic Victory is like voting a player as the winner which makes it seem kind of hollow and undermines the concept of 'allies'. It should require all remaining factions to be allied and, once this happens, then they all win (rather than just one). Then it will be something players might actually work towards in multiplayer as they do not chance losing. To keep the option of winning without killing everyone or having others win, I prepose there be a Domination Victory. T

Those that what only one winner without killing everyone or doing the Quest/Spell victory are looking for domination, not diplomacy. I will be posting about that in another thread soon.
What spells they can cast seems like a very big difference to me. e.g. If I have a champion who can only cast level 1 spells and his up against one who can cast level 5 spells who is more powerful and has more options. How high a level spells a champion can cast very much impacts their power. I would also add that the concept of essence is still in the game it's just not a stat any more, your soverigns ess
The arguable problem with this is that it feels like an "everybody wins!" consolation prize. Not that I disagree with you, but there are people who strongly dislike that sort of thing.
But that IS the essense of a diplomatic victory. Unless everyone wins the allying with other players in multiplayer would be risking giving away victory, thus limiting it to only something that can be achieved against the AI or w
Note that some spells will have scale with the caster's intelligence. Based on how things are now, I'd imagine that this "some" actually means "every single one where that could possibly be the case". -------- Yes... until you research a more powerful spell. If the game can reach a point where that doesn't happen, then that's a problem, but it's not a problem with this particular system. And we've seen no indication that that probl
Yes. You read it properly. I've lost twice to the Kingdom of Altar, via Diplomatic Conquest. While this obviously wasn't their true intent, it happened. So no, the AI is not capable of actively pursuing a victory other than Conquest, but with the correct circumstances, they can still get a Diplo Victory. But this goes back to my previous statement; Programming a 'Play-to-Win' AI will not be anything approaching impossi
How does imbuing work now?
Imbues are to have a mana upkeep. ----- Unless there is a stat that effects the ability to use magic other than the one that unlocks spells, then once that is high enough to use the biggest spell then caster heroes will be investing in non-magic stats (likely DEX and CON) and will never, ever need or want to become better at magic again.
I am not sure why some people are unhappy with removing essence in general. It was a fairly arbitrary limitation on the power of the sovereign, and was a fairly OP stat as far as pre 1.1 is concerned. I mean why would anyone want to put points into anything else. Since none of us have actually played the new version, nor seen exactly how global mana works, I think it is safe to say that any outrage over the removal of essence is probably veile

Will there be a .pdf file that functions as an updated manual so that players who have been watching the development from the side won't have to dig for information and can have it handily at their side when playing? This would be a big boon for the community and disheartened players.
Frogboy has
I think it makes more sense in a thematic way. Let' say you're building a Warlord/Warrior Sovereign and you put a heavy focus on your Strength I think that a small bonus to Warfare would be nice because in a thematic way it shows your Sovereigns dedication to "Way of the Warrior".
Eh, give them a warlord trait that helps with Warfare research then, but for everyone else it should not.
With a global mana pool essence is not as useful anymore, unless it's used like AoW's Casting Specialist stat, where it would limit the amount of mana a champion can pull from your global mana pool per turn.
There are a lot of UI improvements, one of my favorites is the city idle popup.
trouble is that because population grows at a fixed rate per city, it is far better for players to have their settlements all growing: if you build a house in all three of your cities you will get faster pop growth as a whole than if you built three in one city (because then only one grows). when specialist slots are added and pop becomes more important, it will become even more evident that more settlements = more faction pop growth is breaking the
As its own metric, sanitation is likely to be an annoyance that people who do not want to play a city builder do not want. For a mod it would be fine to have effects specific to it, but for the core game it should only be applied abstractly, if at all. The reason cities need sanitation / health services is to support a large population, which is what food does in the game. As food is already fairly abstracted (and is consumed by buildings), lets have sanitation buildings make the housing you
In general, 4x games have used sanitation as a method of curbing rapid growth. In the civ series, you had city health as the problem which required hospitals and clean food sources. In the TW series, you build sewers and baths to help prevent an outbreak of plague which is probably one of the worst things that can happen to a city in those games as it affects stationed units as well as the populations. ---- I think this is kind of
Yes, no, and maybe. Yes the overpowered nature of spamming cities when compared to building a few good cities has been addressed. No, it is not going to be balanced; in the long run more cities will be better if you can hold them till they are well upgraded. It will just be that building lots of cities will push back the time at which you can achieve big cities (thus linking which strategy is better to game length). The problem with the AI spamming cities at every resource nod
