At the risk of seeming self-entitled, it would be great if, after conquering a given Wildland, the resulting fertile tiles were very high quality. I'll confess to being disappointed that they're generally 4-2-0 or 4-2-1. I accept the counter-argument that if you're powerful enough to take on the final encounter then you're likely winning handily in any event. However, I still feel a bit mardy ;).

Personally, I use high initiative lancers, backed by either archers or mages. Stinking mud is useful if you're ranged-heavy, but it needs water + earth. I love Juggernauts just the way they are now. They only give Ythril delusions of grandeur - faction ranking plummets once you've trashed their main Juggernaut armies.

I've got the pre-order acknowledgement from Stardock, but I can't tell whether Impulse 'knows' that I've done so. I'm very much looking forward to making this game exactly how I want it [e digicons]:dur:[/e] , but I'd hate to miss out. Is there any simple way to tell that I'm in? Or is the mere fact that I can see the beta forum enough evidence? Cheers John

Yep, I just submitted my latest game and went from 13th to 79th on the ladder. "I am shocked and appalled" :) (10pts for the first person to spot the origin of the quote!) Taking tongue out of cheek, it's better now that the playing field has been levelled so to speak... ~SDC~

Well, I can empathise - I was rolling over the AI at crippling in 1.02, and promptly got my butt kicked using the same tactics as 1.03. What I do now (and while I'm not a great player, I'm not bad either), is to rush for trade goods, like frictionless clothing, aphrodisiac et al. I then go trading with all the minors/majors. This works _much_ better than tech exchange, with the obvious exception that the majors will never (in my experience) trade ship tech. In 1.02, I use

I slogged my way through a Gigantic/Painful game, and blindly submitted my Metaverse score. Disappointed to see I got a whole 1600 points. Now, I could have gone for an earlier tech win, but I wanted the military conquest. How about an option to delete scores? I guess I was looking for smooth progression as my playing skills improved, and this kind of spoils things... Cheers, John. ~SDC~
