Very few people, besides groups of friends, are on the original (commonly called vanilla) and Entrenchment these days, all of the player vs. player action is on Diplomacy. This is for numerous reasons, including the fact that Diplomacy is so far the only one being actively patched at present, and Diplomacy ends up playing very similar to Entrenchment with some advantages. The diplomacy system in Diplomacy is quirky, but most people just ignore it.

I would recommend buying the expansion bundle, because they are micro-expansions, you can't have Diplomacy without Entrenchment.

I have a theory on where to place mines for the most effect, at least against the AI, and that is to the sides of phase lanes.

The Radiance is better than the Kol, because of Detonate Antimatter, which is one of the best abilities for dealing with abilities, and it isn't even an ultimate.

All of its abilities have relatively short range and the two good ones require you to target an enemy, and the third to target a unit under attack. Without any unit like subverters or guardians to cover a retreating Dunov, this guy will never survive to reach an appreciable level if you're actually using it. [quote who="Darvin3" reply="14" id="2950272"]The Dunov has some great abilities, EMP being the strongest of the bunch, but on their own they just don't carry this ship. Currently, I regard the Dunov as the weakest capital ship in the game. He is just a pessimistic troublemaker. I am surprised they aren't modernizing Sins and its expansions for 64-bit and multi-core support when it is the standard now, something Stardock/Ironclad didn't anticipate, but I am not complaining about it. I would rather worry about the AI's deficiencies and the clunky diplomacy system than this nonsense. This is how I describe the TEC capital ships. The Sova and the Akkan are both solid ships right out of the gate. The Kol, on the other hand, is simply a late game ship, best used in pairs, with a large escort fleet. The Marza and the Dunov are niche ships, also ideally used in pairs, that fill their role well. I am rather fond of a Modular Architecture opening for discounted mines at my expansions, followed by fast Javelis and the other TEC early game staples. A Sova or an Akkan is my

Mon Calamari Star Cruisers are a joke, the classification system for them is atrocious, the Home One- type is abysmally underpowered for its size according to canon, the Liberty and wingless Liberty -types are better, but still part of the problem. I personally prefer Phoenix Rising's Independence -class MC120 Star Cruiser designation for the Home One -type, Liberty -class MC80 Star Cruiser designation for the Liberty -type,

I don't see the point in self-destructing factories just for economy, doesn't make sense to me. Though, from what I have seen, economy players generally don't build any ships, except what they need to colonize. I probably have less MP experience than you, but that is what I have been told. You are correct bombers are a better option, almost required for the Advent and the Vasari, but the TEC is much better with the Ogrov. What if Auxiliary Government, or its Advent and Vas

Colonizer capital ships have their use. The Advent definitely need a Progenitor Mothership, as DirtySanchezz mentioned, Shield Restore is a key reason, but Resurrection has its use for keep their veteran capital ships in the field if you can get one to Level 6. The Vasari can substitute a Jarrasul Evacuator with Drain Planet for a Vulkoras Desolator, assuming you can get one to Level 6. The TEC have a solid economic advantage with an Akkan Battlecruiser, as DirtySanche

Some people just like to be pessimistic. I am more concerned about the abysmal AI that can hardly handle using and countering things like starbases and mines (i.e. suciding on starbases and Aerias only minelaying), and the quirky diplomacy system, than the OP's nonsense. Point 4 is kind of weak, considering Loyalist and Rebel is a tech choice for the original factions as it has been described by the dev's cryptic responses.

The 1.21 patch kind of caught many modders of guard, because many hadn't even updated to 1.2 before 1.21 came out, not that 1.21 has much affect on mods.
