I was sitting on the beach with a beer in my hand, and a great campfire... A whole week with no: Computer, Internet, E-Mail, technology. And I couldn't even get a cell signal most of the week. It was great.

Tekzilla, a weekly vidcast from Revision3, staring Veronica Belmont & Patrick Norton put out Episode 38 today, where they show off ObjectDock. ObjectDock is their featured Freebie Download of the Week and they show off how you can use it to jazz up your Windows desktop. They show a number of shots of the dock in action, and you will probably recognize a few of the wallpapers, dock backgrounds, icons and maybe even a certain website in the video. The Freebie of the Week seg

The cool thing about the games we publish, if you buy a retail copy and register it through Impulse, you can either install via CD, or by downloading the game. So with a boxed copy, you get the best of both worlds; The manual, extras in the box, the pretty box to put on your shelf, plus the ability to download the game.

Here's the problem in a nutshell, and it's something that goes way beyond what one company can do.... You have WeMakeWidgets Inc. A company that makes WidgetWaxer 3.0 (following up on the amazing success of WidgetWaxer 2.0). WeMakeWidgets Inc. is based in Germany. WeMakeWidgets Inc. wants to put WidgetWaxer 3.0 onto store shelves so they start looking for a publisher/distributor. Here's where the problem comes in. See, there are virtually no distrib

Sometimes we spot an artist here on WinCustomize that shows a ridiculous amount of promise. There are a lot of digital artists that post work here every single day, but now and then one comes up that does such terrific work that you just sit back and go "Wow!" And it's even more satisfying when you can see how the artist has grown in talent over their time on the site. Today, I was browsing through the newest skins list and hit upon just such an artist; <A href="http://lgp

It seems that often skinners put out dark, glassy, techy skins. The number of Aero clones we saw when the Vista interface was first revealed is just one example. But now and then we see some very light, airy and bright skins uploaded to the site that provide a nice contrast to or normally dark PC screens. Here are a few of the more recent light-colored skins uploaded to the site you may want to check out... <A id=ctl00__ContentArea__SkinList_

TYCUS, Thank you for putting together this very detailed ratings proposal. And thanks to everyone so far for the overall discussion. These are the threads I want to see about site issues like the ratings system. Reasoned discussion with new ideas as opposed to rants and complaints. Because it's what I do best, I'm going to play devil's advocate here for a minute on the proposed points. Basically, whenever we look at a new system or a change to any syste

One of the great features of SkinStudio 5 was the ability to directly import XP .msstyle themes and convert them into WindowBlinds skins, giving you access to the many .msstyle themes out there, but allowing you to retain the ease and power of using WindowBlinds. Unfortunately, that feature isn't present in SkinStudio 6. But never fear, there is actually a free, stand-alone tool to do just that! <A href="h

Why are things so quiet today? Well, we're getting all of our ducks in a row in preparation for the big Impulse launch later today. So for the time being, amuse yourselves. Read a magazine. Maybe take the dog for a walk. Run any errands you have to do today, because once we flip the switch, it's going to be hopping around here for the rest of the day!

Impulse should automatically pick up apps you installed via Stardock Central, or other Stardock products. When you purchase new though, it should automatically be associated with your account and be managed entirely in the background.
