I have the same problem. According to the registry, I'm playing 0.9.017. On a side note, will this always be the Reg Key that is used for GalCiv - why I ask is that I'm writing an app that uses the text data files and it would be good to be able to just get GalCivs location from the registry. ~SDC~

Unfortunitely there will always be some smart arse who will find a way to pirate a piece of software. >:( With these pirated offerings only being Beta 5, hopefully anyone who gets them will get the feeling that the game is incomplete and will visit here to find out they've been ripped off and that the Release version is so much more than they have - and will buy it through the proper channels. LOL I suppose you could take the point of view that the pirated versions could almost be lik

There are effectively 5 build queues - 4 Governors and no Governor. I find that I only use 1 governor in most games and have the queue contain generic projects. Any colony I want to have build specific project(s), gets the personal touch and I override or suppliment the build queue. On larger maps multiple Governors can be a big help.

It is also possible to 'force' an Alliance - well in Beta 5C it is. The other race needs to be at any footing other than "At War" for it to work. I have even managed to get a race to Agree to Peace, giving them Alliances as part of the deal, and then in the same turn 'forced' them into an Alliance LOL 1. Get Alliances technology. 2. Give it to them, for nothing in return, or as part of a Peace Treaty. 3. If the race is not Close, Alliance will not show as an option, so Give th

Yes, I have to agree that this damned game is addictive, there are just so many different ways to play >:( I have not played a game so much since MoO1,Uprising 2 or UT/Freespace demos! It reminds me of the great times I used to have playing a board game called Stellar Conquest. I have had so much fun that I'm now modding it - and I've only got the BETA! This is truely a great game...IMHO :D ~SDC~

Mike C, you are right about the AI and what we know about the races of the B5 universe. For my B5 mod, I'm going to set the Precursors to Vorlons and the Dark Lords to Shadows. For the other B5 races, it simply will not be possible to make direct comparisons between the GalCiv B5 race and the race in the B5 universe.
