Something that bugs me is the relative strength comparisions given in the Foreign Affairs screen. Why it bugs me, or could be made more useful, for me at least, is if the Players Economic and Military strength was also indicated somehow. I know there are the graphs on the side panel, but the Foreign Affairs screen is a good summary of the two bits of info I use quite alot, especially when there is war going on.

Think of it this way, the ship is out of range and you have the ability to initiate a return to home protocol. The ship takes itself to a home destination you set, where you then crew it and do as you please with it.

Andreas, Yip thats exactly what I was suggesting. I am also using 41.09 drivers. Well, not sure what else to suggest. I have noted on several sites that they state that for proper colour display that Windows PCs should have their Gamma set to 2.20. For me, like you, that much correction washes out the colour. The only other thing that comes to mind, is the reason I changed monitors. My Compaq was stuffed. The Brightness and Contrast simply didn't do very much - thus I

Nidaros, I would suggest the next thing to do is look at your video card driver. Are you using nVidia Detonator drivers? I am running a Geforce 256 (Geforce 1) with the latest Detonator drivers. In the Geforce/Colour tab of the Advanced Display properties, I am have a slider to adjust Gamma. By default it will be set to 1.0. I run mine at 1.20. PS: I also got a nice performance boost from these drivers too.

Nidaros, I've had the same problem previously and found the solution to be a Monitor driver. I have an older Compaq Q200 21" monitor. Under Windows default monitor setup, it was very dark and it did not have much contrast, not many resolution settings and useless refresh rate settings. The best I could do was 1024x768 @60Herta. >:( After installing the Compaq monitor driver for the Q series monitor, the display cleaned up and lightened considerably. I could set it to 1280x102

I'm not sure if the cut scene text is clear or not as I can't see it clearly. I am also finding the colour of the text is not contrasting enough with the cut scene text background. Bigger text may fix this.

The changes to the text to make it more readable are really good, except for the cut scenes ie first trade route; first colony etc. The text here is now so small it is very difficult to read. The main text seems to be using a font like Ariel, whereas the cut scenes seem to be using something like Courier.

Isn't this how it has been for at least the last 4-5 Builds? If you want to go to the star map, launch the Colony ship to the star map ie make it leave the star system by double clicking on the ship icon in the stacked ships list under the planet list, filling it with colonists.

I've sent a Transport into a Drengin sector that has several stars, 2 have Drengin colonies, and parked it between the 2 populated stars. I've waited and waited and waited and waited...and nothings happened (:(

I noted in the game I am currently playing that 1 of the other Civs got lucky with a Random Event that increased the class of all the planets in a colonised star system. When I found that star system, I found that there was only 1 planet, and so the Random Event was wasted. I think that some sort of check needs to be inserted into this Random Event to ensure that the chosen star system has multiple planets.

I agree Fleshpile. Another option would be to allow access to either an enhanced minimap or a Civilisation map of some kind. For example when voting on the Zoo or Prison, I generally try to vote for whoever is furtherest from me.

No its not fog of war, a technique I use in my games is to use my Survey Ship to lead the monsters around the map and let them do what they want to do to the other Civs stuff. Thus, I had a ship about three 'squares' away when the monster went invisible.

I've noticed that in Beta 5A that the escaped monsters go invisible from time to time on the main map. They are still visible on the mini map. If the main map is 'jigged' around with the mouse, the monster(s) ghost for an instant. It sure makes leading it/them around more of challenge... Are the monsters supposed to be able to become invisible?

I have been lucky enough in all my Beta 5 games, thus far, to start with a Minor Race, Class 24 planet, very close to Sol. This has given me a target for Cultral attack and a trade route early on. In everyone of these games, one of the other Major races seems to have taken exception to this Minor race, cause its doing very well?, and goes to war with it, even having to go past me to do it and even destroying my freighter(s). With my game plan, I won't sit back, and either go to war to protect my

In my current game the Yor are basically spreading like cancer. Every other major race has made contact about working together secretly against the Yor. Cool, but there is no options for 'doing something secretly together'. Clicking accept doesn't seem to initiate anything. It would be good if in this type of situation, exchanging tech and/or a non-agression pack, or something could be chosen.
