Maybe Neil can hook me up with the updated wblind.dll. If it's working for you folks, I'll give it a try.
Everyone here is running WindowsXP. Curiously, it doesn't appear that users running Vista are experiencing this problem. It seems like since the beta update that moved the skin directories to the Shared Documents folder, when WB6 loads at startup, it cannot locate the graphic files necessary to skin the taskbar and start menu. Why other elements remain skinned is a mystery to me. I'm just wondering if the changes made to WB6 so it could receive Vista certification somehow broke something in t
OK Neil, bear with me here... I started futzin' around with the computer when I got home from work. First, I reset the Shrllstyle of the skin which I have loaded using neophil's workaround (loading the skin in Skinstudio and re-applying the skin, causing the taskbar & start menu to re-appear properly). Then, I disabled all startup items and rebooted. Upon startup, all skinned elements appeared as they should. just to be sure, I rebooted several times wit no problems, so far, so good
Neil, I will try to determine if one of my startup applications is affecting WB6 by doing a bare boot and add apps until the problem re-appears (sometime tomorrow - it's getting late . As far as the ClearType issue, all I know is prior to updating WB6 to 5.92.xxx ClearType would be active at startup. The only changes to system software has been with WB6 (updated to the official release via SDC).
Is there anybody still out there... I have been following this thread since it started. I too have been experiencing the same great features... eh issues that all of you have been experiencing. It is now 2 days into the official release of WB6 and I am still coping with the "unskinned taskbar and start menu trick" that has been plaguing you folks since the "let's move all of your skins somewhere else" beta was released. After not seeing any more replies in this thread for a number of
That was a pretty horse.
According to Stardock, there is no Windows XP 64 bit version of WB6. I guess Stardock just cut us 64-bit XP users off at the knees. By the way, WB6 on 32-bit XP machines isn't exactly a smooth ride either IMHO.
Worked like a charm. Many thanks!!!
Am also having the same issue with downloading... D/L gets to 100%, then starts all over again (both servers). Have to cancel D/L to stop it. Rebooted system, restarted SDC, same problem.
