a while back, i downloaded the official fan patch, that had a new .exe file. I forget exactly the way ya installed it, but it needed that file to make it all work. I'm pretty sure frogboy helped out with that. Now with this new update, i am unsure if i need to use the old file? Or should i just run the steam patcher to update to the new files on steam? (the steam fix option to me, might work) <
Anyway, what should happen is that 1.01 will come out and it should feel a lot better for those players experiencing issues.
that is great to hear, But the sad part is the most people don't have any patients and want it all yesterday. I know i am certainly excited to play it, and even more excited to see how much better it gets in the next 2-3 years. GC2 is o

I am not sure if i have this installed right or not.. I was running the APT-1 mod, so i had mods working before.. But i am unsure if it is running in this game or not. On start up, only the lower left corner has writing, it says.. v2.042 twilight or the arnor (english) the right side has no writing. If i click on the option page, the mod is selected so i think it is working, But i am having a hard time figuring out if it really is. I also put the ne

I started a game about 2 months ago playing on a large galaxy or was it huge.. was having great fun and spent about 50+ hours on the single play... the last time i played it just happened to be christmas, right as i was having a huge border war with the terrans.. (i play alterians all the time, the only race i actually played lol) But it looks like i will have to fire up this new patch, and start over.. Darn! to this da

wow thanks folks.. and frogboy! It sounds like this game really is a great next step. I just love GCII, so it looks like you will get me to buy GCIII. I have been watching this since the founder thing happened and i am glad to hear that the game has lived up to the GCII rep, and went beyond. and yea, i guess the Q has been asked a bunch, but i figured with the launch and the game now considered out of beta, i would g

I'm a big fan of Galciv II, But even with the fan patches it has some issues i find. Some AI issues/bugs, and at times personality seems lacking. I also feel at times, much of the threats feel like a bunch of hot air.. Like the drengin just having a couple planets, or even when thallan's own half of space they don't do much in the way of threaten anyone. Terrans are the ones that do have a bit of bark i find, as if they are on the map they are pretty much the
So it's clear that the government has a price target on milk and is giving subsidies to hit that price target. Why? Is it because Americans won't pay any more for it and because fair price is more than that?
It is way more complicated than that, But part of it is because of big business, big agro, and the So called, "pork" spending. Milk i

@jafo, what you said about architecture is very interesting.. Saw something funny on the news, and i say funny because it is exactly what i was talking about with farming. Farming is the one industry the poor, and under developed countries can compete in is farming. You do not need big infrastructure, you need land, and water and people.. What i was getting at is all the big corporate subsidies which come directly from governments i
but the things that everyone should be required to take every year are economics and statistics.
Honestly i couldn't disagree more.. Knowledge and learning need to be much broader based.. People should learn what will help them thrive in the future.. We need farmers, artists, mechanics, engines, designers, thinkers.. To me schooling should be much more focuse
Quoting ElanaAhova, reply 164 I was directly addressing the sentiment in this thread that it would be great if we can get rid of some large portion of the population of the world. That's not "experimentation". That's genocide or mass murder, depending upon how you select who gets the ax. Eugenics is directly relevant, not as an "experimentation", but as the progressives' answe

Ok, the more i play with the Race Range reduction, the more i think it is holding back races from expanding.. I think i need to rethink this.. I saw someone mention something about removing basic life support.. I wonder how you would do this? Set range to zero? delete the entry? Not really sure
Along comes 50 more workers who get hired by Farmer A. Now Farmer A can make enough milk feed 150 people. He is only employing 100 people, but due to economies of scale his workers are more productive and each one can now make 1.5 people worth of milk per day instead of 1 person worth of milk per day. Not only can Farmer A's farm make enough milk to feed all 150 people, but they can also do it for cheaper than bo
The problem from every country that is suffering (even America) is because of a lack of specialists. The only way to support more specialists is to have more people that are low on the totem pole, farmers and janitors and what not. All the farmers and janitors and fast food workers out there exist to allow us to support more specialists.
</

I would say you are under false premises again.. You are talking 8 billion people.. 350 million in the US.... The vast majority of people, and work, are crap jobs, doing things that just cleans up the junk that comes from over crowding.. China has 350 million+ middle class+, and 750m living in poverty.. How would droping those numbers down to half, lessing the drain of resources, be bad? Look at any country th

are you sure the option is checked? what size maps are you running? How far have you played?? I find those events on the larger maps do not start till nearly every planet on the map is filled.. Perhaps around the time about half the total techs are researched? maybe 5-6 yearly meetings have happened.. If you restarted games a few times, you might not of gotten one. I know sometimes i will play for 8+ hours on a single game and not ha
Quoting jecy99, reply 75Cutting subsidies to factory farms, and going back to local growers, in local economies would reduce strain on nature resources, (water mainly) along with reducing the toxic effects of modern mass farming. Are you going to be the first one lining up to work on the newly created and tremendously less efficient small farms? Nobody in America wants to be a farmer. Making farming

I don't think that is it at all.. the biggest problem, is Capitalism is built on the haves and have nots.. You need, the poor, and/or slaves to run a capitalist society.. Because why else would anyone want to do any job like wiping someones ass for a dollar a day? But factories in 3rd world country's arn't up to safety because they don't have to be, because laws are not enforced. Just because the workers are in slum conditions making
