Thecw gotta love rock munchers
The bulk of the created ships are of the combat variety. Personally i like the non-combat kind, and they lend themselves far better to the application of animation. Also there are so few of them around, so their uniqueness makes them so much more memorable. If only the designer would have a set of basic geometric shapes, and the ability to distort parts, then i really co

With all these Terran combat ships gather here, the Terrans deserve another civilian ship: The Terran Rock Collector . (Medium mining vessel, waiting for the mining module). Medium size mining vessel. For maximum efficiency it is equipped with two cutting laser turrets and a laser armed arm. The grappling arm completes the collection system. Getting the hang of complex animations. Twenty in this design (count them). I know there is a

The scout that came too late (for the contest). The Altarian Scavenger . (Early small fast long range superior scout and survey ship) Always on the lookout for opportunities. I looks likes it is the baby of an Altarian and Thalan ship encounter. Premise. I had problems with getting some animation working the way i desired, so i build this ship as a test case for various animations
I hope the game will have an easy way to download player created ships, would be great to add all these in quickly at some point.
In one of the dev stream, it was stated that in the future ship designs might be able to be shared through the steam workshop. For now: Get the design files for the ship you want to have. And place (you might need to unzip) them in your "My Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\De

And here is The Drengin Shredder. A medium mining vessel. Cannon armed to pulverise asteroids and space debris. Also work quite well at taking other things apart for their resources. Of course it has sufficient defenses in case those things shoot back. When we are going to have asteroid mining capabilities this bad boy is the one to do it.
gotcha, gotta buy core ships at that point
Yep. If only ship templating would work properly. Might as well wish for design parameterisation or type placement*. Design parameterisation. The ability to specify the balance between the various (up-gradable) equipment classes. Example 10% engine, 20% shielding, 5% sensors, 5% life support, 50% beam weapons, 10% armour and the rest 0%. <p
Tried your method Thecw, but got no job. However, when I was messing with it I added a piece of equipment and the new save of the ship started to show up in the shipyard list and also in the design folder. I have no idea why it did this.
The adding of something marks the design as 'modified'. The designer only make a real save (to file in the Designs directory) if he think there has been a change. T

I don't think it is fun.
Again my purpose of this thread was the extension of the underlying XML structure, not the actual implementations of the given examples.
Thecw ok, I would not design ships myself that require those kind of events to transpire to activate them. I know what I need to build to get my ships released as I need them. That would be too iffy to count on.
Neither would i, nor should anyone rely on it, but the auto designer does update the standard (template) ships to make use of the higher mass cap. So if the situation arises in a game let the game us

As advised in the Dev Stream (Friday, November 14th), i should yell for Alan, so here i go: Hey Alan, take a look and tell me what do you think of this proposal? Is something along these lines possible? I hope this was loud enough, i really don't like to yell.[e digicons][/e]

The Hyperion Shrinker does work. But it works on empire level not on planetary level. It raises the Mass Cap of your ships by 10%, and every military adjacent building increases this bonus by another 5%. In the following screenshots i will show the Terran Titan as buildable with a hyperion shrinker in the empire (with adjacent military buildings) and the same ship design after i destroyed the shrinker. To see the changes you have to actually enter into design mode of a
