Cool, thanks for all the great advice. I tried it on a game I started this past Sunday and implemented the advice above, and I am right in the thick of things! Thanks again!

Hi, all! I am always getting stomped bc I cannot figure out how to keep a healthy economy. Any tips? Thanks!
Well, it looks like a legit problem, then. It stink, though, because it only seems to happen when I am playing on a huge honkin map!
In large, long games, I will end turn and the turn button will disappear, never to reappear. I can still click on planets, and issue order to ships, and click and open the economy or diplomancy screens--and there is no error or crash. The game jhust does not proceed to take its turn and then give me my next one. Any thoughts? Thanks
I would definitely buy it. If we are talking another 6 hulls, I guess I'd pay 4 or 5 bucks. For a dozen or twenty, well, then 9 bucks is fine.
Dragging the research screen around is, well...a drag. What about implementing a scroll bar or something or allowing zooming in and out of the tech tree?

This is DIRECTLY from StarDock... "t requires an updated version of Stardock Central that has been designed to make use of our updated server farm infrastructure. So in theory, your download speeds should be very fast." So the clear implication is that they have CHANGED Stardock Central from free-range servers to servers being tortured in some sinister-sounding 'server farm infrastructure.' Servers are tools, yes,
Ditto, dl'ed perfect, and even faster than the different beta versions! Awesome! OS: WinXP SP2 (English) Server: Chicago Purchase Method: pre-order directly through Total Gaming Network Connection Type: Cablemodem
we've put in 51 hours Thats alot of work. Let it be known that your accomplishments are appreciated, and marveled at.
Dude, you had me at beta 5. From the gamma screenshots, I am going to be blown away. Im probably going to buy a few extra copies and give them to friends, because great, smaller companies like yours DESERVE huge success when they make contributions to their field like you guys have. But seriously---THE TERRORISTS WIN if I dont get 1.0, like, I dont know, yesterday or something...
Ill buy both, but Im sorry, anyone who says SEIV or what appears on SEV looks anywhere close to GC2, uh, no. If you actually PLAY GC2 beta, Id say that SEV has its work cut out for it. And check out the unbelievable gamma screenshots. Lets not forget t6hat SEV is being developed on a much smaller manpower and $ budget than GC2. If they are smart over at Malfador, they will try to keep their 'complicated' paradigm, because I seriously doub
Gimeegimeegimeegimegimme..... Seriously, will it ruin the economy of GC2 to let me have it now? The robots at the repro factories already have it... Are you saying you guys prefer ROBOTS over real, live human beings? It's madness, I tell you, MADNESS!!!!!!! C'mon, man, one little copy. One sweet, little, wonderful little copy... I could get hit by a car before 2-21 <br
I'd prefer a tac combat option. But I have to admit, playing the beta and zooming in, you almost do not miss it much. you zoom into the battle, and you get to see what's going on pretty well. Tac combay MIGHT be more of a hassle than it is worth. This combat system--energy weapons, energy defenses, mass driver weapons, mass driver defenses, missle weapons, missle defenses--and hit points--is really cool, but it is not so complicated that
Whats with all the slamming of RTW? I second the motion about it being the best strategy game ever on a computer. And as for you folks who talk about how easy the combat is and how bad the AI is---huh? Is it possible to beat 4000 troops with 400? Yes, by managing your army, having experienced troops, a great general against a general-less enemy, higher tech level troops, and frankly, smart use of terrain. Even by smart use of these, such victories
I am having a blast with this new beta. What build order do you guys use for tech? I seem to be getting outpaced in research alot. Thanks!
Hi, guys! I am a vet of these kinds of games, and let me start by saying--this one is going to be a BLOCKBUSTER!!!!!!! But, I am getting creamed, even on Beginner! Does the AI start with some kind of building, tech and ship advantage? Or does the AI just use optimal build orders? After 50 or 80 turns, I am pathetically behind in tech, despite spending all resopurces on developing new tech research centers. Any advice?</font
MOO3 was a total waste of money. The game is terrible, and no amount of patching is going to fix the poor design decisions made in the game. GalCiv is playable and fun, right out of the box. It eats MOO3's lunch. This is not MOOIII bashing, it is just the facts. I wish someopne had given ME this information before I bought MOOIII--but I got most of money back on ebay anyway...
Is there a way to scroll thru a list of ships that are idle/have no orders/are not moving? Starting mid-game, I usually have several warships, colony ships, and constructors running around looking for some love, and it is darn near impossible to track them all without going thru my entire fleet list. BUT, is I could somehow just go to idle ships (for example, the colony ship I sent to the bottom of the map to explore fog of war space), it would be much more betterer...Thanks!
The advantage to tactical combat is: you get to see what technology does for you, and your maneuvering of ships and deciding on targets can and does affect the outcome of the battle. Just because some players 'cheat' (here, it seems described as using weapons and the rules of the game to your advantage, which doesnt seem like cheating to me), doesn't mean that the better-ever AI in GalCiv couldn't be programmed to 'cheat.' and level the playing field. For me, no ship design and no tac
I would love to see tactical combat and ship design to Gal Civ. If it were, it would be come my all-time fave game. Tactical combat works PERFECTLY with this genre, but only if it is a single-player game, as this is. In this respect, MoO2 is superior to GalCiv. In every other way, Gal Civ looks to be better. But ship deisgn and tactical, turn based combat is a big thing. One of my faves from MoO2. Maybe in GalCiv II? I agree that this kind of game shouldnt be multi-player, unless
I have it. I'd pass if I were you. GalCiv is going to be much better. SEIV is much better. MoO2 is much better. Dont bother with MoO3, though...terrible game.
Delaying GalCiv 1 month is a brilliant idea. I have a very strong suspicion that MOO3 is going to sizuk, and tizank. After a bunch of guys buy it and realize it stinks, GalCiv will come out, probably get better reivews, and BANG there you go. I cant wait for the full GalCiv version! Already pre-ordered! I am anxious to see MOO3, too, but the project was screwed from the begining, and my sense is that they needed to start from scratch, but instead just removed features and did a big bug hunt
Never mind; when i logged in for the third time, the 'update button' appeared. Thanks!
where cani go to download the new beta. i login with the drengin manager, which I thogh would download the new game, but it didnt, just the previous beta. Advice? Thanks!
