I'd like something to allow you to mark or easily identify stars you want to colonize. The idea about the individual planet economic sliders is also a good one, although I can see how it might be difficult to put in an AI routine to support that feature. ~SDC~

I did both. The hidden files option had already been selected. I still don't see those three files, but if the boot.ini file did not exist, it should have let me rename the backup in that directory. ~SDC~
I had already set my system to show hidden files, but I can't see the three files identified in the thread. However, when I tried to rename a backup of boot.ini in the c:/ directory, it would not let me because there was already a file with that name. I guess that means nothing was deleted, but I would like to make sure before I reboot. Since I downloaded under the SDC version that was updated (or maybe backdated) in response to this problem, the deletion should not have occurred. On
Which files will it delete, and in what directory will I find them if they are still there?
I am ancient at 46. I remember playing Avalon Hill games like D-Day from before I was 10. I can't even count the number of SPI games I later bought or got in their magazine.
I tried to register with the number under Drengin.net but tt will not register under Drengin (it says the number is invalid). When I register under Galciv, it says I have successfully registered. The registration number I have should be correct as I have multiple Stardock e-mails (from today) confirming the number. Refresh does not bring up Galciv. What am I missing here? ~SDC~
When you consider the fact that these reviews are on an Orion fansite, they are pretty positive while honest about the portions of the game that do not suit their preferences. They are pretty fair in pointing out that things like the absence of tactical combat (which I like too) are simply design decisions that are consistent with the overall strategic emphasis of gameplay. It is certainly fair to point out that Galciv is not your cup of tea if what you are looking for is ship design
Since it successfully (or so it reports) registers Galciv, you would think that it would see Galciv. It seems like it is supposed to be downloaded from the Drengin.net menu tab even if you have not registered for the full Drengin.net package. ~SDC~
Ok. I uninstalled version 99.141 and reinstalled version 98. It says I am successfully registered for Galciv but it does not see the game to download under any of the download tabs. When I click on the Drengin.net tab, it tells me I am not registered for Drengin.net, which is correct unless that is the tab that Galciv is supposed to appear under. ~SDC~
It seems to register ok under Galciv, but I still can't see the download. I have checked under all of the tabs and it does not appear in any of them. ~SDC~
I did sign up for the beta (I have beta 4) but it won't validate my registration even though I have entered the number correctly under both Drengin.net and Galciv. It shows me as "logged in" and otherwise works (it sees other downloads and the forum). I paid for Galciv, not all of the Drengin.net games. ~SDC~
SDC has updated itself to version 99b.141 but still does not see GalCiv as a download. What do I do to download the game? ~SDC~
Kudos to Stardock for already producing enhancements to Galciv. I have MOO3, and while it has the potential to be a good game, it is not a good game in its present form, and it is absurd for anyone to suggest that MOO3 was a finished, polished product at its release. It can scarcely be argued that there are not serious problems with the release version of MOO3--most importantly geranium-level AI, non-functional point defense weapons, an interface that maximizes the number of steps it
Yet another from Austin, Texas. :D
I saw it on Apolyton years ago--when SMAC was about to come out. It was one of the "alternative civs."
I have played quite a few hours of the Galciv beta and MOO3 and offer the following observations: 1) I like designing ships and seeing how they perform in combat, especially in combination with others ship designs. Galciv does not have that feature. MOO3 does, but the combat animations are so small it is difficult to tell what weapons/defenses are working well or not. I understand that the Civilization-type combat is a design decision and not a defect, but I would really like to see t
I just purchased the game, and the game itself appears to work reasonably well, but I can't locate the rules files that were supposed to come with the game. They show up in the windows menu but when you try to open them up they cannot be found. Any suggestions?
