This has happened to me in every game since I updated. In addition, it always seems to happen with Tri-Strontium Steel. I think that is the only one that has been duplicated. In addition, each race that has built it can trade it. I know that in the past it was mentioned that only the first one will actually appear in the trade window, even if two race build it. It is definitely appearing for ALL races who are allowed to build it. -Dave ~SDC~

I think Matt brings up a very good point about the frequency of good planets. Perhaps there should be a sliding scale where the base score decreases as good planet frequency increases. I still think that diff. level should be the greatest factor in determinig score (still sore form my vistory against all genius in a gigantic galaxy that was only worht 1100 points! >:( ) Just so that we know that we aren't spitting into the wind here, are you guys (Stardock) interested in changing/refi
Elf, what diff. level are you playing? -Dave ~SDC~
Since upgrading to the new versions, I am unable to load some of my older savegames. Maybe there could be away to decrease the points you earn based on the differential between you and the next closest AI. I'm not sure if this would work, I'm just brainstorming, but what if there was a good point bonus for the first 'tech level' you are ahead, but then the additional bonus for tech decrease the further ahead you get. You still get additional points, but fewer than you would now. As the other AIs catch up, this could be recalculated (although it would probably only be calculat
sorry, that should have read 1.01.031a. -Dave ~SDC~
I also had an experience where an AI build Tri-Strontum Steel, and I could still build it. I've also seen a couple instances of two AIs building the same wonder or trade good within a few turns of each other. This is AFTER installing the newest update, 1.01.030a. -Dave ~SDC~
The scoring is totally whacked right now as far as I am concerned. See the "Metaverse Scores" thread in this forum for a run-down on the conversation. -Dave ~SDC~
I also think all of the existing scores whould be re-calculated once this issue is resolved. -Dave ~SDC~
T-Man, JavaScout and I were playing around with the last night. The gc1.xml, gc1_multimedia.xml and gc1_bonuspak.xml (and possibly one other) were all missing. This was both before and after I re-installed SDCentral. Also, when doing the "fresh" install of SDCentral I noticed that uninstalling did not remove any registry keys, so any registry issues would NOT be fixed by a fresh install of SDCentral. We copied the contents of my Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc1\Production .xml files to the
I think there should be a large bonus for being the winner. After all, you play games to win, no? And I think that the number of turns polayed should not factor into the equation at all. If it must be included to give some added weight to players who play on small or tiny maps, fine, but it should be minimal. I think the scores should be weighted by (in order of importance): 0. Victory 1. Difficulty Level 2. Total Pop, Tech level, Economy 3. Percent of total resourc
"Face it, scoring is an artificial art even more difficult than programming an AI- no one since the beginning (before even Civ1) has ever done it very well... they are full of artificial values that don't reflect the experience." ...but we can still strive for a MORE accurate reflection of the games that are played. The inability to make it perfect should not deter us from trying to make it better. -Dave ~SDC~
Brad, any update to the 84 meg download issue? -Dave ~SDC~
Brad, I purchased direct from you, and did a frsh install of Stardock Central around Build 4 (or late build 3). It was when the game was first release to beta testers. I had SDCentral installed FIRST, and used it to install the game. -Dave ~SDC~
no prob. ~SDC~
I also think game length (in # of turns) should not have much to do with scoring. I realize this is probably in the equation to prevent the extension of already won game just to get more techs and increase score, but it should not be weighted as heavily as it is. It takes MUCH longer to beat all Genius AIs on a gigantic map, than normal AIs on a medium map. -Dave ~SDC~
mts=months ~SDC~
Brad, btw, I am NOT using download and archive, and was, and am still, prompted to download 80+ megs. Also, I figured out how to clear cancelled downloads: Tools-->settings--->general/dowloads--->clear temp folder on refresh application data. -Dave ~SDC~
I think that the Difficulty level should be the most impotant factor in determining the score. It has been mentioned that perhaps number of enemy ships killed has something to do with it. If this is true, I think it should be removed from the equation completely. I think it is more diificult to co-exist peacefully for an entrire game, fightig fairly rarely, but win a cultural or even a military victory (by having ALL enenmy worlds defect) than it is to play at normal level, get way ahead tech
If we started the new version download last night, but stopped when we realized that it should be 1-2 meg, instead of 85, how do we 'clear' the download so that the new one will appear? -Dave ~SDC~
Razgon, I am having the same displeasure with the scores. Here are the 3 games, with approximate scores, map size, difficulty level, and victory type: 1 - Gigantic, All AI Bright, Military (2 turns from cultural, about 5 turns from tech), 2200 points 2 - Gigantic, All AI Intelligent, Military (4 turns from cultural, about 10-20 from tech), 1900 points 3 - Gigantic, All AI Genius, Tech (6 turns from cultural, 10-15 from military), 1100 points As you can see, my

It is also worth rebooting you machine after you've updated the .dll and re-registered with the Metaverse. -Dave ~SDC~
FWIW, in my suggestion, when I mentioned "Trade Goods" as an item that would allow the funnelling of produciton to another area had nothing to do with MOO3, or whatever other game used this term. In the woprld of GalCiv, Trade Goods are things you can build that give you certain bonuses. You can also trade them to other empires. I would like to reiterate my feelings that the addition of additional Goods that give you the option to convert wasted production to other areas would solve this issu
yes, all bonuses stack, except for bonuses that only affect that Starbases sefense bonus (those modules of the Defense variety). Keep in mind that there are upper-level caps for military and social productionj for each planet class (these are VERY high, however). If you really want to supercharge your production, build up to three fully loaded production starbases in a sector. -Dave ~SDC~
