Corky - the best way to ruin a new PC is by installing SP2 - you know that right? A new PC shouldn't be ruined by SP2. It would be third party software using programming hacks and shortcuts in their software. Some of these had to be blocked of in SP2 because they where liable to security issues.

Ja. When I got my Dell, the first thing I did was to format it in reinstall the system my way. However, I found it hard to get the updates from Windows Update because the computer kept giving me a message that the system will shut down in 30 seconds shortly after I connected. (Isn't there a "don't play animations" setting on most browsers? You can rightclick on flash animations and untick the "Play" menu entry. This should stop it. It's a bit tedious for when you face sites bloated with flash adverts. But to fight such you can use the AdBlock extension https://addons.mozilla.org/
