heh.. I think this startled quite a few people. When I updated IP and WB today I saw two of the cacls.exe windows appearing. I noticed alot of file and foldernames where flying down the list and that instantly alerted me thinking I was hit by some worm or virus. I was about to try to stop it when I noticed it was crawling my IP and WB directory. Thinking this was something related to the SD updated I let my guard down a little, but didn't feel complete

If Windows XP Professional were available for say $50.00 bucks a pop the pirated copies would be halved overnight! $50 for an operating system? I can't say I share your point of view there. An operating system is such an complex piece of software, how can you expect it to be priced similar to an application?

Supposedly, FF fonts are hard-coded (as I've read here) I think you can change most (if not all) of the Firefox UI by editing one of it's XML files. Or perhaps stylesheet. Don't think it's hardcoded into the sourcecode it self. http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit#css

*bump* I just came across this issue my self when working on a skin. I was testing it so see how it looked, but got trubble with Firefox. All the menues appeared as a small thin line and my bookmark toolbar buttons disappeared. When I removed the entires for "Fonts for Classic Widgets" it worked fine again.

had no idea I needed to do that, and I don't see where "preferences" are on the Stardock page, please show me. Not the Stardock website, but "Stardock Central". The software used to download the Stardock software you have bought/subsribed to. At least if you are Object Desktop user. Not sure if you use it w

I guess you could call it the "circle of evil" Developement slowing down - users loosing interest - developement slowing even more down because of that - users loosing even more interest - developement slowing even more etc etc. So I guess we can't put the blame on the dev-team only. Same thing ha

Maybe you should rephrase that to "Haven't come across anything similar for Windows." as you get that using Konqueror under Linux. Heh, you got me there. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FF

Not sure really. Don't know how the weather docklet works. If it get's the info from the http protocol then it's port 80. But if that was closed on your firewall then you wouldn't be able to browse this site, it would block anything trying to access websites. Perhaps the SD support can help. [email protected]

I'm not sure how it obtain the data really. Is there anything that allows you to permit the http protocol? Or open port 80 for OD+? I think I allowed OD+ full access, don't see it doing much harm. What firewall do you use?

'....with whom you could argue' That reminds me, I meant to get one of them utilities that add spelling and grammar checking to all textfields in Windows. I've been looking, but not yet found something all to appealing. I saw on a friends Mac that her words got underlined red like it does in Word. Haven't co

That checks if your own computer is connected to the internet, but it doesn't ping any other machines. Page number 35 in the scripting guide explains how to use System.InternetConnected and System.Ping. I haven't tried to ping a spesific port, but you might try to append it to the URL after a colon. like "www.wincustomize.com:80". If the builtin DesktopX Ping doesn't work for you you might be able to use the INet ActiveX/COM control.</font

I thought that WC wouldn't have a MSStyle section because msstyles are all based on hacked Microsoft versions... I'd quite like to see an Aston Shell section here. I tried it a couple of years ago, but not any more. I settled with SD products like DX instead. But there is many very nice themes out there and I htink that the more creative inspiration we get, the better.

Using the code you gave me, DAXX0024: Odense, Denmark - 10 degrees, Clouded @ 19:44 05.06.05. Works fine her using the default weather docklet in OD+.

If you have DesktopX Builder you can edit the object and set its default visibility to visible. If not, then you need to ask the author of the object.

Does the wbload.exe process contain all the GUI elements in the memory it uses? Or is it contained in another process? 500-700Kb of memory seem very little considering the amount of different graphics used to draw the system. I'm curious to how WB works.
