I think that there were some really great IP's submitted for this category. I think that the distinction between those who deserve the gold, silver, and bronze is not so noticeable as it might have been for other categories (IMO). That being said, here is how I would rate 1-5 in this category: 1. Flooter IP 2. Alloy Bezel 3. The Last Order 4. Megaton 5. Renaissance

This is a hard category for me to make a judgement call because I think that there are a whole lot more than 3 REALLY GOOD and original skins that should definitely be noticed in this. Obviously there are the candidates like Antares by treetog and Sektor by daniloOC. I also feel that DigitalCHET's Sugarfree Lite is one of the most original skins and yet very well-done. I think that Tim Dagger's Pixel8 defines originality in this competition and definitely deserves a medal. Here's how I would

There is so much to choose from in this category. As well, I would have to say that this is the category that would lend itself to having the most personal opinion for what would want to have on their desktop the majority of time. That being said, I think that Gabriel's G-Pod and Lithium are incredible skins that would work great on a desktop. In fact, they both have been on my desktop pretty much the entire competition since they've appeared. Other notable's (IMO) are Layout by Z71, Luna -

I don't think that there is a lot of question as to the fact that the Dementaecon IP is the most original but I also think that the Renaissance IP is right up with it. It would take my silver and then I like Rokey' "Last Order" for Bronze. I have heard about how difficult IP's are to make so congratulations to all who took the time and effort to make some spectacular IP's!

My toss-up for gold and silver would be between Sektor and Antares. I think these skins are above the rest of the bunch for this category. Fighting for bronze would be FM & Quasar. But, to be honest, any one of these four skins could win a gold and they'd deserve it. Great job, authors!

I got it, am using it, and personally feel it's worth all of the $9 that you pay. Kudos to all the guys that worked on this. Tim D. has a great point: why complain about $8 for a suite when you'd pay that much for a comp. tech magazine (or in my case a couple of mochas at Starbucks). I used to hate the idea of premium suites. But now my feelings are that if they are the quality of the stuff that Pixtudio, Stardock, Tim Dagger, and Skinplant are putting out these days - BRING IT ON!!! <img sr

My two favorites are Quasar (by Mike Bryant) and Pixel8 (by Essorant). My reasons are twofold 1)Originality. These skins provide some neat new ways of seeing the minimalistic world of WB skins. and 2)Quality. While there are other good (and even great) skins out there for this category, I think that Pixel8 and Quasar not only lead the pack but define what the pack should look like. Hands off to Mike and Tim for their top efforts.

xino has got a good point . . . however, while most of the masses are not skilled enough to know the time/effort/details of top-notch quality, they are the ones who buy the work, whether premium suites, or the programs to attempt their own efforts. I think it would be neat for a popular opinion poll . . . just for the fun of it!

I do have one comment. I am not a skinner. I appreciate other people's work but haven't put my "hand to the plow" as of yet in this field. I would love to see some other skins to complement these 3 killer windowblinds . . . maybe rainy skins, sysmetrix skins, winamp, etc. All of you skinners out there, let's see if we can't blow these up to make suites of out of them! . . . just an idea!

I guess there's still some time for somebody to go "back in the day" before the deadline for the GUIO is up. I, like Shakey, was drawn to windowblinds because of the originality. When I first purchased my OD subscription, people were always wanting to know how I got my screen looking like that (don't worry I was a major salesman for you guys at Stardock). I don't hear that nowadays so much unless I'm using Premium skins. I don't mind purchasing them but it's sort of a downer that you general

I'm in the market to buy a new laptop. I presently have a Dell Inspiron 8100 that I bought two years ago. It's got a P3 1.2Gig processor with 512 ram. My holdup seems to come more from the low-end 32meg video card that it has. I don't really want to buy a desktop seeing that I use my laptop both at home and the office and like to keep all my windows customization on one machine. I'm planning on buying a new one in the next few months. What machine should I go with (taking for granted

Does anyone know how you would take an Icon Package and unload it so that you have all the individual icons? I would actually like .png files instead of individual .ico files but I think I can convert them with Icon Sushi. The purpose is to be able to use the .png files with Objectdock to match the Icon Packager theme. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT=

I'm following this competition as an observer. Whether or not the deadline is extended, IMO, should be based on a couple of factors. 1) If the deadline is causing a MAJOR portion of the competitors to be unable to submit their best effort, the deadline should be extended. Let's think about it: is the competition about judging the best efforts than an individual/s have to present or is it about trying to throw something together in a hurried attempt to enter the competition? That being said,

Hmm. . . interesting. I tried what you said on #3 post, Gary, and it updated SOME of the newest additions but not all of them. It also updated SOME of the libraries but not all of them. Beyond that, if I open the separate window for newest additions it still has the old list. I do have the WC Browser. Does that make a difference? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="a

I tried this. 2 Things happened. It did seem to update the libraries but when I clicked on SDC/Tools/Refresh Site Updates, nothing took place. Secondly, I re-opened the Settings and found that the 'Clear Recent Skin and Themes List' was unchecked, even though I had previously checked it. After repeating this procedure a few times, I found that it always came back as being unchecked when I would close and re-open SDC. I don't think the problem was fixed. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/

These 4 mini-suites look great. I don't want to gripe about this but I wish you would release something for those of us who bought the 4-pack of these Windowblinds from Skinplant. We would be spending $5 for each mini-suite just for the icons, and the wallpapers to match. It's sort of double-spending. I don't mean to complain. Forgive me if it comes across like that. What I do have to say on the positive is that all 4 of these mini-suites look amazing! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/

No bones about it, I have a problem with this. Why are we taking jobs from hard-working Americans and then transferring them over seas, putting a strain on our economy (of course, then we all want to blame Bush for the problem). I know everyone's out for more green but these companies have been able to decrease their payroll expenditures by enormous amounts by outsourcing and yet the product prices stay the same. Meanwhile, the customer deals with increased frustration on the Customer Service

I defintiely say go with the 3 new additions and out with the old. I think Litestep and Nextstart fall behind because of the fact that their counterparts (Windowblinds & Objectbar) might be a little bit more popular (although it's not like we see frequent Objectbar themes making their way here). I can't wait to see Trillian and Rainlendar. . . haven't tried Saumurize yet but am interested to see what it's all about. My bottom line: Out with the old, in with the new!
