" Actually, the chocolate covered cherries are one of the only things about christmas that have meaning to me. It is a recipe that my great Aunt Dorty used to make. She died many years ago, but my Mom got the recipe from her before she died. Now, each year, we make them. She used to have tons of food and a huge party on Christmas eve. So, this is my little way of remembering her.

Being a parent myself, I can say that sometimes that extra $70 can be too much. Most people have to budget for X-Mas and are pretty much out of funds by the time that they are done buying gifts. Did you ask him about this before you bought it for her? That's a pretty expensive gift to give without talking to the parent before doing it.
