FL-"So why is my message board black with green, grey and orange writing?" The board is haunted. At Halloween time, it decides what it wants to do. It will be back to normal afterwards....well, as normal as it gets! FL-"Fuzzy Logic volunteers to help KG clean up in exchange for lots of cake and chocolate and, ooooh, lots of other nice sweet edible things..." Sure! Come over and help me clean! We are having a lunch at the party, which will be: sandwiches, BBQ meatballs

Feline, I see what you are saying about the classes. I just really have a high standard for myself, I guess. I really should have only taken one class, too. I am taking a Business Communications class and a Business Law class. Probably doing one at a time would have been enough! I just *really* want to prove to myself that I can do this. It is definitely harder this time around doing the school thing, though. Working full time and being a Mom is enough. Add a couple classes to that, and

FL-"You consider 82% not good enough??? Whoa, I'm glad I don't have to compete with you. Sounds to me like you're doing well." Feline-"you mean to say that 100% and 82% as a pair of marks arent that good???" Well, a little back story to this all might help. I did very well in high school. Moved on to the honors courses at University.....screwed up *big time* and got academically dismissed. Went to college and got an associates degree (2 year degree) then went and did all my Photo

FL, I agree about the MS updates. i don't do that, either. I don't like them deciding what drivers I should use. *Bad* idea! Classes are going OK. I have 220 out of 220 points in my Business communications Class (about 1/4 way through). Business Law is another story. I only got 82% on my last test (there are only 4) so, hopefully the rest will be better. If he grades on a curve, though, I'll be a lot better. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/joke.gif" border=0 A

Norton updates all the time in the background. At home, I'm on a dialup, and the only way that I know that it updated is because my connection gets bogged down. Windows updates scare me. I review them before updating. They will update your video driver for you every now and then and then all hell breaks loose. I don't like the auto update stuff. Well, I am off to my Business Law class now!

Fuzzy, everything that I have learned about computers has been out of self defense It's amazing what Norton can do to ya'! Mind you, I *do* use it myself, though. Their protection can be a bit *too* good at times, though! Glad that you got logged back on. I hate things like that.....

oops, I just gave you information that may not help (sorry). I was thinking that you were having more of a connection issue. With logging on, that doesn'tmake much sense. Your cookies shouldn't matter, as you can log on from all over the place. the only thing that could have happened is that they accidentallyy blocked the IP address that you are using. Do you have a static IP? If not, disconnect then reconnect to the internet to get a new IP. If you do, contact Jark and ask him "Wassup wi

FL-"Hey KG, don't associate yourself too closely with the Angie pic - people might think it's you" It's not? Fuzzy, there are all sorts of reasons that you can't connect from home. First, do you have Norton? If so, did it automatically update itself? Sometimes it tightens security without asking. Second, and probably the most possible reason, is that your ISP is having DNS issues and can't fin

Fuzzy, I like the Toadstools and Leaves picture. It reminds me of a B&W that I took a few years back of toadstools with snow on them. I need to dig up that picture.... The "angie" picture has a nice composition and lighting to it. Very soft looking. I like the name, too! (Angela "Angie" Marshall) I know what you mean about DA being your second home. I go there and browse the photograph

Jafo-"sorry 'bout the emotive hyperbole..." No problem. I probably took it a lot worse than you meant it. You know I'll always love you, Jafo! (Even if we don't see eye to eye on some things like this). Oh, and if anyone wonders, My Grandfather was is WWII, my Uncle was in the Korean war, and my Father (and a lot of his friends) and one of my husband's uncles were drafted in Vietnam. They all saw the mass destruction that the weapons can do, and they all owned and used guns afte

Bangkokboy- that would be kinda' funny Yes, I do have different views than other people. That's what makes me "me." Love my views or hate my views, they are at least my honest views, and I'm not "wishy washy" with them. People know where I stand. I also can respect other people's views, because that is what makes everyone different. If everyone thought the same way I do.....well, the world wo

GM- unfortunately, most of the pics up there are no indicative of my style. I am more of a B&W and Sepia toned photographer. I had to post the ones of my trip, though, because it was so pretty up there. And, the other color ones were because I needed some art for a certain place in my house. The ones of my daughter are more my style. I do a lot of handcolored work (which will be easier once I get going with photoshop) and I do a lot of soft B&W and Sepia work. If you want

The problem with "fingerprinting" a gun is that, just like in cars, the marks can be altered. Their proposal has been to place inscribers in the barrel of the gun, so when a bullet is shot, it is fingerprinted to the gun. Problem: the more the gun is shot, the less accurate this is. A simple file can remove enough of the mark to make it inaccurate within a "reasonable doubt" and make the evidence not stand up in court. Without a "lo-jack" type chip (which could be removed, too) they still wo

GM, you can trace IP's through a message board, or anyone who comes to your site. What is your site programmed in? I may be able to direct you to somebody who can help you set that up. FL! You got on DA! I'll keep checking back to your page. I still need to get some more pics up....

Paxx, I think what we need to learn is tolerance. Just because somebody has a different view, or their country has different laws, doesn't give you the right to call them names, or take such a tone with them. It's not like guns in America is a new thing. I doubt that anyone on this board didn't know that we have a lot of guns in the US. I was not raised going to church. I have no formal religion. But you will *never* hear me bashing somebody else because of their religious

Jafo, I *really* felt offended by your "NRA Thug" comment. I think you have a really warped view of the people who actually belong to the NRA. Most of the people who are part of it are simply rifle enthusiasts. They hunt, or they shoot at ranges. They collect guns. It is their hobby. They are the same type of people that will be forming a group when they try to make gasoline engines illegal in the future (that is assuming they ever get the battery powered cars working). There *a

Fuzzy, it's the first time I blitzed images on that camera. I have no idea what happened. I was looking at them, went to upload them to my PC, and they were gone. Of course, I have had bad rolls of film (I even had a bad bulk reel once), so I guess you just lose an image once an awhile. It's pretty easy to upload to DA. You just upload in a format they take (I use .jpg because that's what I use). You want to make sure that the file isn't too big, or it will take forever to upload.

It's quite possible that the people who were identifying the gun have no idea what different guns look like. I also wonder how much of the "facts" are reported. Hopefully, the police know more than what we are hearing about.

On top of that, I somehow deleted a couple pictures of my daughter that were on my digital camera. They were of

Paxx, you were actually making one of my points, though. Why does the US have so much crime? It's easy to point to the guns as the problem, but I think we need to dig further. We need to look at why the people do it. As I stated above "We also have a much greater rate of violence in general (twice that of Canada)." So, why is that? And, actually, that "twice that of Canada" is non-gun related crimes. So why are we more violent? I somehow doubt that giving Canadians guns would make them mo

Paxx, Canada probably is safer, but I don't think that guns are the only factor. One large factor that people don't look at in the US is where these crimes take place. They happen in places that are over populated and usually have a massive gap between the rich and poor. Any time that you push too many people together, you will see crime (this is why Japan has such extremely strict laws on weapons). It goes back to human nature, and possibly the environmental factors of being so populated in
