This is not an uncommon practice with software. For example: I pay a fee for SecureCRT. It is a program to manage my network switches. I pay $$ for a 1 year support maintenance which entitles me to free updates for that period of time. I must pay again if I want to upgrade to a newer version and my annual support/maintenance period has expired.
Agreed, its not uncom

So, you should not worried on your purchased license. It should work forever. To answer your question, from what I understand. Are any licenses 'grandfathered' if purchased before this change? Answer, old purchased should work as perma

This is terrible. [e digicons]8C[/e] I have been using a few licenses of Fences for many years and if they stop working I may have to find an alternative. I understand you want to stop updates or migrating to the next rev (version 3 to 4) but to cripple the software is not cool and very "Microsoft like". I just bought a new PC and this is my FIRST software install (shows you how much I love Fences) and I was perplexed about the "subscription verbiage a
Hello, Sorry for your trouble. I have push your inquiries to our TM support Team for help. Thanks.
Thank you for the assistance. I hope to resolve this soon. I am expecting a new computer, and have a small window to install it due to work. I suppose I can install the trial and then when this gets resolved, just add the key code...right?

I am trying to take advantage of the discount for previous version owners. The Product page link says: Upgrade from Fences 2 to Fences 3 for 50% off today! Do you own Fences 2 and want to upgrade to Fences 3? See if you are eligible for an upgrade discount <span style="font-size: small;

One week without a single response from anyone who knows anything. Doesn't the admin or Stardock have any moderators who look at these forums? Time wasted waiting allows me the luxury of looking at other options. They could be loosing a sale here! [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] Do they not want my money? (for the record, I also emailed them and to date have not received anything back.)

Downloaded this and love it. (My only criticism as of now is that unless you use this for hours a day, the 2 day trial is too short. It would have been nice to use it for a week or so to get the feel for it.) My question however is about licencing. Does the licence key we purchase tied to the OPERATING system or the COMPUTER? [e digicons]:S[/e] My ASUS PC had major issues with the NVidia drivers Windows 10 forces it to use. As such
If you liked Start8, I'd say using Start10 is a no brainer on Win10.
Not so sure on that. So far, the Windows 10 start menu has everything I need. At some point, you have to learn new ways of doing things, and as long as the new way has some familiarity and not a cray steep learning curve, change is good. I'll stick with the OEM start menu for now. It's still nice to

Once I get Windows 10 stable on my system, I'm giving this a try. $15-30 aasounds about right if it works as promised. THANKS for the link!

What is this and where can I find info on this new program? I'd like to consider this for purchase. I see no individual area in the forum for it. Clicking on the LEARN MORE link brings me back to he main page. Thank you. ???

Has Start10 reached the end? When Windows 8 came out with that awful tile format that no one knew how to use, programs like Start8 were a must and filled a very wide open market. It appears that with the new Windows 10 OS, Microsoft has corrected this oversight. All one has to do is educate themselves with how this new menu system w

I have created a texture using an image, and cn apply it etc. My issue is with teh color of the images. I'd like to use the original color of my image, yet o matter what I do, teh texture is always some shade of the skin I apply. I've messed with all the color settings, smart
I believe the free version cannot be used for corporate use and a paid version would need to be purchased to use it in that environment.
Who uses the free version? hmm...good question. Can they define NON-PERSONAL use? If my employer doesn't give me the tools I need and I buy them myself, and share them with no one, then is that not for my personal use? Also, this could just standard verbiage, as some software (icon making comes to mind) creates a product that is distributable. Fences does not create a product that is distributed, just used on the computer it was installed on and usual

Stardock only scratches the surface of the Windows Operating system. To go from 'flavoring' windows to a full blow operating system is like saying you built a model plane, now you can manufacture aircraft. There is SO much that would be nearly impossible to do without MS suing you, or getting public acceptance in the mass market/ compatibility it would not be a job anyone would attempt. Not in the market as it is today. Nice to think about though.<

I bought fences for my PC. I am migrating over to a new Laptop as my old PC is going to be decommissoned. How do I legally unistall FENCES on it (I will not have the computer, our IT depertment will be recycling it) and reinstall it on my new laptop? Also, is it possible to keep my settings as well.? Thank you.

Not sure whats going on here, but for some reason I can not activiate window blinds themes anymore. I can down load and install and even mess with the settings and apply the theme. Although it goes thru the process to apply the style, it never does. I seem to be stuck with a generic Windows theme regardless of what I do. Also installed on my PC are: Decore 8 Deskscapes 8 Fences Modern Mix Start 8 <l

Put me in this same group.. Fences 2.10 does not work, I can not drag or move folders, files or fences. My issue seemed to come when I installed WIndowBlinds. I'm not sure of that, but I noticed it after I installed WindowBlinds. I still have Windows 8, not 8.1.

I'm loving the new WindowBlinds 8, but one thing bugs me. The skin you choose overrides my Start8 menu icon/images. Going back into Start8 and changing it back does nothing. Not a bug per se, but annoying that I can't have my cake and eat it too! [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] Can this be addressed?

I bought object desktop (great stuff). I got FENCES with my purchace. I originaly didn't have a use for it on my new PC, but I did on my older one. Not being 100% sure I installed the demo on both. I have not entered my key on either yet, but I now feel the need to have it my new PC. Can I get a discount on a second licence to the same software I already bought?
