Hey Brad and Gang, I really do appreciate the "one patch fits all" deally! I just recently had fun getting the latest patch for Football Manager 2006 and there had to be some eight variants of the patch you had to sort through to find the one that fits your situation (Was it downloaded or retail? If retail what name was it going by? Do you want the updated player rosters?, etc.). My only gripe is that these same patches here often take several diferent names. Like this v1.0D1 was

Hey Gang, Unless I'm missing something I noticed in my first game that the rollover text describing the MiniBall tech in the trade screen is misleading. While I did indicate that it leads to MiniBall II, it states that the tech doesn't add any new ship components but then I see in the more full tech explanation that it does add new types of railguns. I almost skipped on the tech trade thinking this minor race was trying to trade me some BO

I had troubles starting it at first as well but then I switched my desktop to the game's default 1024x768 32-bit resolution, started it successfully, and then changed the resolution from inside the game to my prefered resolution (1280x1024) and now it works fine.

I myself love a decent amount of random events and luck in a game BUT I really doubt its as much real "luck" as the stories implied. I think in these AARs the term luck is used to succinctly sum up hours worth of little steps taken by the human or AI player that resulted in something great (lucky!) or crappy (unlucky!). A random event like, "Your Civilization find 2 billion Galactic Credits under the seat cushions of its big couch!" (I seriously doubt there is any even this silly) wo

Okay, cool to know. And, if what you say is true, Star Pilot, I guess there is a bit of strategic decision making going on there since I hear each weapon rolls its attack independently. In the same space, therefore, a few missiles could add up to some pretty big variability in damage whereas a huge bank of lasers will more than likely give you very average results, no (all things being equal)? So while they may all give you a pretty simila

Hey Knowers of Stuff, 2 Quickies here: 1) Are there any subtle but inherent differences between the three weapons types? Like do missiles, for example, tend to fire slower but do more damage compared to the beams or guns of the same level? 2) Can ships suffer system damage or is it an all or nothing affair (working at full power until their last hit point is spent)?

Hey Gang, I have the latest build via the Stardock Central (1.03A 05/01/03) and the image/icon of the minor race keeps disappearing if I come to it after dealing with the major races (via the Relations tab), usually instead taking on the image of the last major race I spoke with. Is this just me, victim of a bad patching soemwhere along the way, or is this something others have seen?

Hey Brad, Here's a minor quibble, I love to play with RANDOM ALIGNMENT for my alien adversaries BUT find this suprise defeated when I can already gauge their alignment via the flavor text at the bottom that cleverly changes to reflect their alignment choice. While this text is great when choosing their alignment why not either put a big question mark down there OR at least give each race a descriptive text to the effect of, "We really have no clue on their ethical orentation at this mo

Oh, doh, if not already clear this is the system that will not play the cut scenes and a very choppy opening menu WHILE still able to play most other in game .BIK files and all of them outside of the game.

Hey Gang, My face is red. While I can see the movies at home on my Win XP system with 0.9017, my Win ME system here (yeah, Win Me ;p ) at work DOES NOT show many of these .BIK files in the game. To add insult to injury, these .BIK files play fine on my work system by themselves, just not in the game. Also, if not already clear, many of these .BIK files play fine like the tech and diplomacy ones, its just the cut scenes, at this point, that won't play. Perhaps it has someth

Hey Frogboy, I may be a lone voice on this one but PLEASE don't go too far in trying to "balance" the placement of habitable worlds, please. I'm really getting tired of this new trend in many random map games to keep everything nice and balanced. Take Age of Mythology, for example, where they go to great lengths to ensure each player has equal access to all of the major resources so nobody can whine about the random map not being fair. Bah! When I choose random map I mean random, by

Hey Gang, What version do you have? There were two builds released the other day (0.9014 and 0.9017) and not only did the movies not seem to play right for me on 0.9014, unless I unistalled first, my Drengin.net account didn't seem to catch that there was a 0.9017 to update to from the 0.9014.
