New account. . . Made this month. . . Sinkillr is that you?
I would suggest playing Triad with only one AI opponent. Start with a Marza or Akkan, 1 Protev (unless you have an Akkan) and as many Light Frigates as you can build without getting a fleet upgrade. Expand to the asteroid field where everything branches into multiple paths and then establish a defensive presence (starbase and defensive fleet). Fleet up and then move out to stomp the AI. When you encounter the AI destroy their defenses, bomb their planet, then colonize it yourself and

It seems like you'd need the flak close to the ships you're defending from fighters (your caps, your titan)--which are also likely to be exactly where the enemy AoE's are targeted. The first download appears to update from v1.00 to v1.37 and is therefore much larger. The second download appears to be a patch from v1.33 to v1.37. Since you are sitting at a fresh install I expect you need the first (larger) download

There's no reason not to update your video drivers (who knows, they may be outdated and once you update all will be well), you may also want to step up the resolution in increments For example: Starting Resolution 480 x 320 1st Adjustment 720 x 350 2nd Adjustment 1024 x 640 3rd Adjustment 1280 x 720 4th Adjustment 1366 x 768 Up to your desired resolution Doing the above adjustment process you may find

I find the AI rarely has more than two ion shots worth of antimatter so I wait it out and then barrage away. I also personally find the Vasari Rebel titan to be a beast against the AI and their frigate heavy fleets. It doesn't do as much damage as other titans but it simply will not die. I generally lead it into gravity wells so the AI will focus fire on it then bring my fleet in a second later to assist. Either way there are plenty of strategies at your disposal, hopefull
Anyone know how expensive it would be for Stardock/Ironclad to get a licensed Lego set or two out there? More importantly does anyone think there would be a large enough market to justify this? I don't mean to derail this thread, I just want some sweet Lego and for Tim to keep up the awesome work [e digicons]:)[/e]
I can't help but think about trying to take those things down in V-Wings that can barely fly that high (ah Rogue Squadron for the N64)
As Sel pointed out, choosing Capital Ships wisely is the key. You can win by building anything but you can win alot easier by building powerful ones (Marza and Kortul spring to mind). Getting a Capital Ship to lvl 6 against the Unfair AI shouldn't be an issue nor should keeping it alive once it's there. Once you have sufficient Capital Ships at a high lvl you can roam the stars at will, assuming you're playing with 1 or 2 AI and have a small number (no more than 3) well fo
I must agree with Sel that the AI has been severely weakened and there is no ideal difficulty anymore. Hard is too easy and almost not worth the fight whereas Unfair devolves into a mad spam fest and AI exploit game more often than not. The 1.80 Hard difficulty was a happy medium in my opinion. It put up a good fight (unlike the 1.82 Hard) but it didn't seem to have access to the infinite armies of Mordor (like the 1.82 Unfair does).
I have to agree with Sel. I tend to hold off on the first upgrade so I can get a good economy going. When I do get a fleet supply upgrade I make sure I can fill it immediately otherwise it's wasted space.
The loyalists are tired of fighting and just want to defend the remaining territory they have. The rebels want to kill all non humans in trader space.
