My advice is to get a new one before you need to spend more on glasses. My monitor gradually went blurry over the space of a year, and took my eyes with it. I'm now on my way to short-sightedness...

Not in this country it isn't. It's illegal to sell a region free player in a high-street store in this country, but they are readily available through mail-order. By the way, these DVDs aren't Region 1 (US), they're Region 2 (UK). I therefore don't need a multi-region player to watch them. As I stated before, if a particular copyright is being used in a way which the owner would have no cause for concern over, it's usually acceptable. It's still not legal, but it's generally okay with both sides. In the case of the Windows logo, if you're creating a skin to be used on Windows to improve the experience of using the OS, it's unlikely Microsoft would have much problem with you using it. It wasn't the postal charges I was worried about, but rather the charges that Customs & Excise in the UK would make before they would let me have the package. After speaking to someone today who has had a similar experience, I'm a little happier about the whole thing. I recently won 5 deluxe Region 2 Farscape boxsets on eBay from a guy in the US, and we're currently debating on how he's going to get them to me.
