"EDIT: Hey I got it! I just had to strip the techs of their meat in the race techtrees. Now there are a bunch of lines going everywhere" Does this mean that after setting a multi-tech requirement in the main tech tree, a single-tech req in a racial tech tree will overwrite it for that race?

I also have seen this sort of thing. I've concluded that anything entering/exiting/moving through an asteroid field only gets 1 move. To test your ships, try moving the next turn (after they left the asteroid field completely the turn before). Their normal movement should be restored.

I've seen 4 main aspects of borders so far: 1) There is a United Planets event that taxes starbases within someone else's borders. 2) It shows the extent of your influence. Where there is more than 1 influence on a tile, it will show whose influence is greatest. 3) There is a United Planets event that removes enemy warships to outside of borders (neutral territory) at the start of hostilities. 4) There is an Isolationist Super Ability which forces enemy
I didn't know that this "know everybody now" wasn't normal. Now I have to think about it.
Since the AI empires are not in contact with each other, I feel it gives the player an advantage. The possibilities for tech brokering are phenomenal, but the diplomatic options are also very strong. The cheat to reveal the entire map gives the AI empires contact with each other (as indicated by the Treaties window

As a follow up to this idea, is it possible to allow different paths to the same tech? For example, you can get to 'Tech G' through either 'Tech C' or 'Tech E'? You don't need both C and E, just one or the other.

I just tested this. It even works when randomizing the opponents! However, I can confirm that the races are not in contact with one another - the "Foreign Relations - Treaties" screen shows them as "Unknown" to each other. Still, this is a long step in the right direction for me. Thank you very much for pointing it out :)

Is there a way to start with all the civs (or all the major civs) in contact with each other? I'm not seeing a setting option. I'm hoping for a cheat code. A way to mod it into the game would also work. So far, I have only found the cheat code to reveal all the galaxy, which kills the exploration aspect and is far too overpowering.

If you enable the cheat mode, there is a code to force a UP vote. The vote will happen immediately, but you can trigger it every July 1 (in addition to the regularly scheduled vote). I don't know how (or if) the AI strategises for upcoming UP votes, but using the cheat will not be something for which the the AI can plan.

Quick question, the review mentioned that SR2 includes Starforce copy protection - is this still the case? I heard that the Starforce developers themselves had asked publishers to remove their product and am wondering if the publisher of SR2 has done so. So, if I buy SR2, do I have to get it with Starforce? Thanks for any info.

When in-game, if you go to the Shipyard and select your design, you should have the option on the bottom of that screen to "Delete", this is the scrap option. If you don't want to play through a game just to get the techs you need to have your designs show up, you can choose the "Battle of the Gods" scenario option (starts with full tech) and delete the designs there.

If you look in the options, Interface I think, you will see an option to skip or not skip ships who have turns left over after auto-move. If you are loosing move points, then select or de-select this option, whichever is needed (I don't remember the exact option wording. I set it so it wouldn't skip in my first game and have not needed to adjust it since.) Fitz

...but I've seen the option in the diplomacy screens and have had the AI demand I pay a spread out tribute a couple times. I haven't seen any option to initiate this kind of ongoing payment in GC2. The main problem it caused in earlier games = it was possible to get the AI to overcommit and end up horribly bankrupt. The fact that th

I don't think the 2 votes at a time idea would work. It seems to me votes are based on the influence a civ accumulates over time. The first vote would use up all the influence and leave the empires voting with 0 influence on the second issue. ~SDC~

The purple ones say "Damn the Man!" on top, "R.I.P.", then "May the Leaders of Humanity be Forgiven of their Sins." below. The one with the Drengin pic says "Drengin have feelings too!". The blue with the ship says something like, "HEY HUMANS, How .... you keep that ......... your OWN .....? Ravi ~SDC~
