I know, right? Exploration based games are really swallowing their own tails all too often these days.
OMFG, WHERE IS THE JUFFO-WUP MILITARY BASE IN FALLOUT IV!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MUST GO THERE! Juffo-Wup fills in my fibers and I grow turgid. Violent action ensues.

The secret FOURTH element is CUT ELEMENTS: These things did not do much to enhance the player's experience, or may have gone so far as to be detrimental to the game as a whole. These should be dealt with. Severely. They should also be forgotten. Severely.
Bahah - I literally laughed out loud a bit here!
What other stuff I'd like to see return? Multiple dimensions of space and time. They were emphasized a lot in SC lore, along with the strange creatures inhabiting them. I loved QuasiSpace, would really hope to see more things of that general nature. Maybe a unique race that has its home in Hyperspace this time around.
Omg, me too!! That's what kept me up countless nights! Wondering just what swa

Actually, to my knowledge, at least the vast majority of constellations in SCII were based on real ones. Vulpecula, Cassiopeia, Orionis, even Procyon! Others were named for famo

This brings up an interesting point though - were you a hardcore player of SCII, Myst, etc., grabbing your notepad to religiously catalogue your adventures.... because you WANTED TO? Or because you had no other option?

I know the fact that the aliens aren't returning has been a talking point for awhile now and I don't want to start on the merits or pitfalls of that. But what about OTHER stuff? Will we see the Hellbore Cannon? Quasi-Space?? Tzo Crystals? Rainbow Worlds? An Ultron? A Sun Device? Are ANY of these things fair game? What do other people think, or want to see the return of? What would you miss?
I wonder if there will be something like a quest compass in the new SC. If so, I hope we'll be able to turn it on or off, based on preference. It would spoil the feeling of blind exploration for me.
Please God, No! Just reading this comment about the possibility of having a damn "quest compass" (most recently applied in Fallout 4) made my stomach tense up in hatred and rage. Having Fallout lay out a cool m
@ cuorebrave I think you are falling down a slippery-slope (although a valid concern), and I think that the above feature could work very well if implemented with a help system similar to SC IIs system, where you could tell the kind of minerals on a planet simply by its color.

Honestly, we're over thinking this now. I think, no matter what, we should use Star Cobtrol II as our model. When in doubt, just go with the original! Because now we're talking power ups and enemy scaling and multiple versions of each ship, and upgradeable alien race weapons and so many other things. What worked in Star Control II? That's the question.

I still have my binder! We mapped out every object and every location for every quest, as well as each home world, rainbow world and the approximate location the quasi space portals would spit you out! It was one of my best video game memories. As for how to translate that to a non-automated system within the game? Yikes. I got nothin'.

I'm torn now. I never used other race's ships, but I remember being SO proud once my flagship was awesome enough to destroy entire fleets. I don't want to lose that sense of accomplishment! But I also don't want to invalidate the entire recruitment part of the game... It's tough!
What would also be cool is having certain upgrades for your ship, requiring certain combination of minerals. Like, let say you want to add photon torpedoes weapon system upgrade to your ship as a crazy example. And to do that, you needed Iron, Gold, Platinum & Mercury. You would need a certain quantity of each mineral to make that happen. Not to mentio
I agree with those who don't want to see small incremental improvements in ships. In this arcade type of environment more dramatic improvements are more appropriate. For example, instead of the 10% damage increase you might get in a flight sim in this kind of game you uprgade to multifire instead, and shoot 3 shots instead of one (or something like that). If there are going to be ship uprgades, they should be more alo

I'm not trying to insult anyone; if you don't like what I'm saying, it doesn't make my post "flaming". I get why you're excited. I got excited once over SC3 and got punished for it.
I'm in favor of going one step further: it bugged me a little that there was only ever one type of spaceship per alien race. Even if they look the same, I'd expect it to be possible to have different ship loadouts (and I also do not want a case where a new better design supersedes a prior design - the variations should factor into my playstyle, or what I'm trying to defeat, not be a ramp up in power). You misunderstand, @Ibnobody! I was super agreeing with you! Stardock needs to do SOMETHING about the sidekick ships because I literally never found a reason to use them before! I WANTED to, but the flagship was too OP... so, we're in agreement, big time!
