Everything I know about skinning Trillian is pretty much self taught from examining xml and bmp files, guesswork, trial error, etc, etc There's a tutorial, reference and tricks sections for trillian here http://www.civillians.com

the difference between the two methods is this: Wincustomize: cd sold = WC gets money, artist gets warm feel good factor deviantART: skin made for subscribers, people subscribe, da get money, artist gets paid. Anyway, I've said my piece. It's been a sticky point for me personally since it was introduced and no matter what I say will change anyone's attitude, and nor will my own perception change.
I take and hear your points, but I still don't agree. I hate to name names, but just as examples: deviantART have never asked if they could sell any of my skins to help pay for their bandwidth, neither have customize.org or any other skin site I submit to. Wincustomize is the only site I know of who do this. All I am trying to point out is that I think the 'selling skins on CDs' is an unfair way for this site to make money to help pay for itself. At DA for example there is the subscript
#33 by Tiggz - 9/15/2003 11:27:33 AM from my point of view it would seem a tad pointless, not to say mean, to uncheck the box - bearing in mind you are submitting your creations for public download anyway, and it's a nice way to help support (and say thx to) WC Going OT and I'm sorry, but.... Pointless and mean to uncheck the box? How so?<
Thanks for explaining. I guess it would be very hard to moderate for quality. And yeah, now that you mention it putting the Q here might have been better than on the actual skin. I had just woken up and the WindowBlinds section here at Wincustomize is one of my first stops for the day. I think I was just a bit shocked.
hmmm, ok I see. For the record, it wasn't a dig at the author or the moderators......it really was a genuine question. I thought I was sure myself that the skins were moderated, but that preview shot got me wondering. In fact I'm not even go any further as I may end up digging myself in deeper.
I could have sworn I left a comment on this skin https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=1&SkinID=3528 Now it's gone. Was it deleted? Maybe some would have seen the comment as harsh, I just thought it was honest.
Uh, it's a checkbox actually not a notice, and I always uncheck that box.

I'd love to see the Trillian section (It was my first choice) and I'd be willing to upload all my skins for Trillian to this site. http://www.honz12.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/skins/?dir=TrillianSkins
/reminded of how the first community skin came about!
Russ is correct. If the option is there for a donation or you can get it for free and move on then the latter option is always the case. I just recently put a donatin button on my site. Been there for a few months now and haven't received a penny. I didn't expect to receive a penny either, but at least the button is there to make the downloaders have a moral dilema before they take the goods. As I said above I haven't received a penny so far. Only money I have made from my skins is
hehe, ooops sorry, I just replied to this in the general messageboard.
sig101 is right, there's a messageboard here specifically for Skinning help. But: The buttons will currently be aligned 'relative to the left side' just align them 'relative to the right side' Opposite for the rollup button. The x and y coords might need to be adjusted slightly.
msn doesn't have skins. People can hack into the .exe file and change the images, then redistribute the .exe (illeagly??) But bottom line is that msn doesn't have skins. I'm not sure what the standpoint is regarding the redistribution of modified msn.exe's here at Wincustomize, but I'd imagine you'll never see an msn skin section here.
Thanks Alexandrie for the tip off. I got in touch with the owner of the last site (as it was the only one which I found any of my skins on I think) Seems like maybe he just didn't know 'the rules' His reply is here: Hello, I am sorry to have posted your skins without your authorization, my site is right my hobby and I am not remunerated (I pay just my field). I 'd like to continue to post your skins on my site, can I have your authorization??? Are you agree to do b
Please check out titan's site http://www.titanpsp.com/ Then check out this one http://devils.ca.tc/ If you're quick you'll even see the guy 'sim' asking Titan about it in Titan's little shout box The guy's so lazy he hasn't even taken Titan's name out of the logo!!
I'm using the uxtheme.dll patch and WB4......no problems here
I love the inclusion of being able to skin the logoff, shutdown screens. I never even knew this was in the pipeline. Thank you so much StarDock this will save me editing the files with reshacker!
I hope it is a dead link because from the thumbnail the start menu stikes an uncannily resemblance to my chosenOS start menu, and I know I didn't give out any permissions for it. >
I'd have to say agree with Dangeruss on this one. Seperate app, so that we can use the same icons set (our fav) with all types of skins, but still have the option to change the icons to suit the skin better.
Hell yeah Randy! For sure I would send people to your/the page. Would save me a lot of time too Also I'd be more than happy to send you some of the FAQ's I get along with some answers/explantions
Thanks to Hippy!! John: how do i make compund skins for wb? Mark Van Dam: T'is easy. How many variations will you be having in it? John: three Mark Van Dam: Right, what you'll need is your original skin as uis. the other two variations will each have their own uis files, but rename these with an .sss extension. Mark Van Dam: Then: Mark Van Dam: Create a textfile in notepad and type in the following: Mark Van Dam: [Skinstyles] Number=3 Mark Van Da
EzPop will only display emails in the small skinned window if they're pop emails, for web accouts such as hotmail, yahoo, lycos etc you have to open the web page to access the mails.
This is a kinda vague answer, but it works something like this.....I think. The first time you press the button it toggles the winamp controls on the skin, the next time you press it, it opens winamp for use....something like that. Best person to ask would be madice, he made it
