Sounds pretty awsome - any chance of fixing it so units can equip the weapons they're meant to be able to (e.g knights and soldiers equip swords) without having to enchant them, save the game, exit and reload first? Or would it be too complicated to find out what's causing that issue?
The resources from mines are kind of redundant when you get large amounts of them. How about making them useable for crafting by adding three new recipes that you have at the start of the game 2 Iron to make 1 fine iron for crafting chainmail , rings etc 2 horses to make 1 wolf pelt for crafting cloaks , leather armour etc Between 2 and 10 crystals to make 1 Flawless Crystal for crafting weapons , shields etc
Seems weird that e.g soldiers don't even have a shield, a sword and a leather tunic at the start of the game. Would be nice if they all started with that (just a very basic sword that gives +1 attack or +1 counter or something, a wooden shield and a leather tunic), archers started with a hunters' bow and a leather tunic, etc. Since sentinels require 10 iron to build they should also have metal armour, swords and wooden shield at the start - ditto for knights. Main issue with replay is all the other rulers are crap compared to the Commander. Though playing it again on a huge random map is fairly good.
Put the diplomacy earlier on then - it could be quite a useful skill at normal difficulty setting, if you want to get allies (especially to get allied hero characters like e.g the Yeti one, that you can't get any other way - and allied units (e.g Imperial pikemen are quite a nice unit - way higher damage than normal pikemen or spearmen)
When i equip an arctic wolfskin cloak it puts it in my chest armour slot, removing the unit or hero's armour. This isn't how it's meant to work i'm assuming? seems like a programming error. Also it seems to be possible to equip any number of other cloaks at once, which doesn't seem right either.
Have seen the sorcerer king use Sovereign spell casting in battle now - and when his lieutenants are there, so much of it that it's pretty devastating.
And the only time my capital has ever been attacked has been by the Vargulf of whatever it's called (wingless dragon ro giant scaled wolf), once a game.
There is a workaround that works a lot of the time to get them equippable - but it's a bit of a hassle. You have to enchant some weapons, then save your game, then exit the game, then restart the game, then reload it and you'll be able to equip them - i tried it and it worked for some swords given to infantry and cavalry units that couldn't be equipped before (someone else posted it before - wasn't me that found it out.
An why do the Sorcerer king and other factions at war with you never use Sovereign spell casts in battles? Why do they never try to claim shards or resources for themselves? Or build new cities? (Most cities i've seen any other faction with was two)
The difficulty settings just increasing enemy units' hit points and making the judgement day counter move faster is pretty disappointing too - i was hoping for better AI and the sorcerer king being more aggressive in attacking instead.
It's a pretty fun game the first time i played it (and lost quickly) and the second time (when i did it more carefully) The AI really needs to be better. It's not that good, either strategically, or in battles. The lack of any real defences for cities is a bit weak too - medieval and fantasy city defences generally involve walls, not the garrison coming outside to fight - and trebuchets were not weapons used against troops like modern artillery, they were siege engines
Snipers as an "elite" unit have such low initiative you pretty much never get to fire a shot with them - maybe once per battle if you're lucky. The only time they're guaranteed to fire is when you have the Ranger hero and he has the "commander of archers" ability - and then they just do a normal shot on a random enemy unit which you don't even get to choose as a target. Archers also need higher initiative. In medieval battles archery came before melee, not after it.
Another i've noticed too - late in the game for some reason some types of scrolls and items just stop showing up in my inventory at all, even if i make new ones - specifically Return Home scrolls just seem to disappear or be invisible. Also named books that give Experience disappear as well, without me having used them all.
It'd be nice if pikemen had some defensive capability against mounted troops and beasts as well as their special attacks - say a bonus to defence against cavalry unless getting attacked from behind, being immune to the mounted 'Flanking' special attack, and to 'Mounted Charge' (again). I know it's a fantasy game, but this would make them seem more like real medieval pikemen actually were and make it seem more authentic. It'd also make them a more useful unit. Curre
Numerous units can't equip weapons - soldiers (other than Varda's bodyguard) can't equip swords, nor can knights or sentinels
Either the devs have fixed the bug, or else i had thought i had all skills, but hadn't taken hunter-gatherer on Peragan and hadn't noticed because it wasn't a top level skill. When i got it, the other problems were all fixed. Sorry for the mistake
