Your statement is not logical. Windows 7 found no issues with the hard drive or the memory. And I have conducted several scans of the hard drive using multiple tools for bad sectors, it came up clean. The memory came up clean using Memtest.

No, no borked install. I downloaded the copy of 8 from the link in my email from Microsoft. Burned at low speed, and verified after burning. I did a clean install. Asking Windows 8 to simply open control panel was like pulling teeth, took over two minutes. Booting 8 took forever, and 8 couldn't even run my wifi card. No drivers. To get the wifi card to work I had to install 7 first then install 8 on top. Still 8 was really slow.So I've done the install of 8 both ways, clean and over 7
I can answer that, because 8 is better with resources. It is ugly, but it runs smoother, uses resources better.
As they say, actions speak louder than words. 8 runs like crap on my machine. 7 has NO issues. Care to explain? I will say this. 8 with all of it's live tiles eats up my internet bandwith.

Point taken and thank you RedNeckDude. By the way Starkers, not trying to be rude, but if you are going to such lengths to get around using the Metro UI and making 8 look like 7, then why not just use 7?

Not the point Mark. You shouldn't need third party apps to fix functionality in an OS. Besides, 8 runs very slow compared to XP and 7 on my setup. 8 literally is so slow it takes minutes to do anything that takes seconds in 7. By the way the boot times of 8 aren't as fast as you make them out to be.

I tried on my current hardware, ran like crap compared to 7. And I have never been a big fan of the whole Metro UI.

Well thanks to a good friend here on WC I am back to using Windows 7. Thank you so much! You know who you are. Looking at upgrading the CPU sometime soon so I may take Starkers advice and move on to Windows 8. As for my diabetes it's been tough controlling my glucose levels. I have had to switch to a new diet but old habits die hard. Still learning how to eat sensibly. It's tough!! But yeah, I'm doing OK and feeling good.

Yeah I think I'm type 2. Right now the Doctors have me on insulin, two different types. Trying to get the blood sugar lowered and under control. I have been exercising and losing weight. I also deal with slep apnea so that's the other thing I am dealing with right now. As for the computer I forgot how basic XP can be compared to 7 so I've had to relearn how to use the computer all over again. But I have internet and my tunes so life is good.

The Doctors are not sure if I have type 2 or type 1. At this point we are still adjusting my insulin injections so my blood sugar stays low. As for the computer, it may need to wait till I get some extra cash for a memory upgrade. Then I think I will go back to Windows 7.
