I doubt that theory very much Doortech since this was on a fresh install of Windows 8 and I had not gone to Facebook yet. None of my pictures were on the hard drive Windows 8 was loaded on nor did it ave access to any pictures on my other hard drive.

I don't have enough fans to plug up all of the fan holes cut in the side of the Thermaltake case. There are many fans missing and the front has missing plates that cover vacant DVD-RW drives. I think that would let in to much dust, would it not?Currently the CPU is sitting at 91F in this case, not bad I guess. I will look into it. OK I rebooted the machine. Why does it always seems like it takes longer for Windows to boot after Windows has been updated? After a clean install it seems like Windows boots faster. Here is some info from BIOS: CPU temp: 113F Motherboard temp: 96F CPU fan speed: 2045 RPM Front 120mm fan speed: 2083 RPM Rear 80mm fan speed: 1326 RPM
You misunderstand. I'm not having heat issues. I'm having excessive noise issues. The CPU stays right around 120F. Just a fan that's a bit loud. I might have to get used to it. After all the Pentium 4 setup only had three fans, one CPU fan, a 80mm PSU fan, along with an 80mm rear fan. It was very quiet, almost the point you could not tell it was on. Anyone seen Ace? This would not have been possible without him. Hope I didn't step on his toes. :(

After looking around a bit it looks like the CPU and PSU fans are the two loudest. After I reboot I will make sure that AMD Cool And Quiet is turned on. That might help a bit. Not sure what to do about the PSU fan. It has a 120mm fan
Well up here in Oregon in the Summer it rarely even gets into the 90s. Would not just the CPU fan and PSU fan suffice?
Yeah, that is what happened. All is well, Windows is activated. :) On a side note I am thinking about disconnecting some of the case fans. Damn thing is noisy, and in the same room where we watch TV. Sometimes the machine makes it hard to hear the TV. Machine took a full 5 minutes to wake from sleep this morning. The Pentium 4 only took a few seconds on XP. So I turned off hybrid sleep. Hope that was the right move. I'm now tuning the EQ settings for music and rein
Well they didn't give me a new key. Just had me put in a bunch of numbers.
The product key didn't work. I had to call it in. Was there another one that you could PM me that went with this disk? DoorTech: Yeah, PCI. :) I have noticed that hard drive light blinks every other second when using Windows 7. This happened on my last build with Windows 7 some years ago. Is it normal? Will accessing the drive that much wear out the drive?
No I have onboard sound. The 3.5 mm jack for sound is so loose I may need to invest in a sound card sooner or later. The system has a 120mm up front, a 80mm in the rear, the PSU has a 120mm, and then there is the CPU and GPU fans. I don't think cooling is an issue. Ace I went with the newer case, the case you sent is being put to good use as well.
I guess the only thing I would add besides a newer video card is a sound card. All of that in time I guess. For now this is a sweet machine. It flies. Leaves that old Pentium 4 in the dust. Now I can truly multitask, watch a YouTube video with no lag, play a game with no worries, and get some serious work done. CPU temp at idle is around 122F. Is this normal? Nevermind. I went into BIOS and turned off cool and quiet technology. Is there an easy to use program to control these fans? Very noisy little computer! It now shows 4 cores at 2.4 Ghz.
Starkers I did as you suggested. All four cores are running. I have no idea why they are running around 800 Mhz. Is there a fix? Now I am worried! :(
No worries guys. I turned off the computer, plugged in my USB mouse, and restarted Windows 7 setup from scratch. Everything is working just fine. I have named this build the "Wincustomize" build. Here are some screenshots:

Well the system is up and running. However I can't get the mouse to work under Windows 7 at all. No matter if it's my PS2 mouse or my USB mouse, it really does not like either mouse. I can't get the PS2 mouse to work under Linux either. The USB mouse works fine. So what do I do? Keep in mind I am running the system in Linux right now.
Well the case and mobo got here today. I'm now assembling the system. Keep your fingers crossed, I hope this works. Ace the board sure has a lot of dust on it. You sure it will work OK?

That video says it is an AM2 mobo, not a AM2+ mobo. Will there be issues with this CPU I have?
I wouldn't know the first thing about overclocking. What make/model is the board? thought I would look up the manual right quick.
