Well use what you like I guess. I still say roll with the pack or get left behind.

People are only still using XP because Microsoft is still supporting XP. After support is killed off people will move up to Windows 7 or Windows 8. Microsoft can't force you to upgrade, that's true. But you will have to due to your work and your job here. And I will not be using XP for too much longer. :)
You know we can debate this until we all are blue in the face. In the end nothing we say will change someone else's opinion. Jafo there are some things you need to consider. In a few years Windows 7 will be obsolete. In another few years after that Microsoft will drop support for Windows 7. You will be forced to upgrade. Windows 9 and Windows 10 will continue to look like Windows 8, except they will probably lock people into a Microsoft app market. The days of the old Start menu a
Thanks so much for the efforts you have made. I am so thankful. My only fear is that the case gets here, I plug in the CPU, and nothing happens. I'm afraid that other board may have damaged the CPU. I'm hopeful that board didn't have enough power to run the CPU or that the CPU was not compatible and the CPU was not hurt.
I wonder what it would take to get Jafo or WOM to make Windows 8 thier primary OS. I bet if they did after about a month their opinions would change about Windows 8. Sooner or later they will have to move on from Windows 7.
Thanks for the help with the case. You know who you are. :)
Which is exactly what people said with Vista, and yet here we are...with 7 likely being the most popular OS in their history.
I don't know, I think XP is still neck and neck with 7 according to usage statistics.
I have a few dollars in my Paypal account if that helps.
The tower I have now isn't really that small. Has room for 2 120mm fans up front, 2 on the side, and one in the rear. I'm running a huge P4 board right now and there is plenty of left over room. Don't get me wrong I'll take the case if we can find a way to get it here. I was just trying to come up with a different way to help.
Well I guess you could keep the case and send just the mobo if we can't get any help. I can't think of anything else to do.
Uvah I got the Windows 7 disc in today. The Snoopy packaging brought a smile to my face. Hey send me a PM, k? I had a question.

Wonder why no one is yelling at him. Interesting.
Thank you all ever so much. This Pentium 4'd days are numbered hopefully. Cross my fingers that the new system will be up and running. Then this old system can get a reinstall of XP and then get put in the closet in case we need to use it in the future.

Yet the fact remains that you still haven't loaded Windows 8 and tried it Jafo.

Thanks. This old XP rig is using the new PSU and new hard drive. I have the old PSU and it still works, just the old drive went belly up some time ago.

Wizard I will take you up on the offer on the hard drive. If it is a IDE hard drive then I will need another IDE cable. If it is a SATA drive then I will need another SATA cable. I have SATA power adapters. Thanks.

Ace - did you get my private message? You all sure that I didn't fry the CPU with that other dead board by trying t o fire it up? I didn't see any smoke. I again wanted to thank everyone for making this all happen. You are a wonderful group of people and I feel privileged to call you all my friends. Trust me I will pay it forward. Thank you!
Problem solved. I was missing two jumpers on the audio header on the motherboard. Thanks!
Ace - I don't want to step on any toes around here. If you could just send the mobo that would be cool. That way I can still use the new case I got from Doortech.
I looked through all of the google links before I posted here. I was hoping someone here had a better idea. I've tried many solutions listed on Google. Kinda rubs me the wrong way as it was working two days ago.
